In 2019, we saw a gap — almost no creators of color in podcasting. So we have brought the mic to thousands of Title I school students since 2020. Here’s what happens when students own their voice:

Students who record and listen back to themselves develop vocabulary and fluency faster — especially English learners.

Podcast production activates more ELA standards than most traditional assignments — writing, revising, speaking, and self-editing in a single session.

When students own a creative role, they show up — youth media programs measurably reduce chronic absenteeism and increase school belonging.

Introducing DrART: Drone Photography + Blacktop Chalk Art— a brand-new STEAM program from The Audacity Performing Arts Project!

Led by instructors Paty and Leo, students learn real drone operation, aerial photography composition, and large-scale chalk mural design — then use the drone to document their own artwork from above.

Inspired by French visual artist JR, whose monumental public installations transformed how we see community storytelling, DrART places young people at the intersection of visual art, technology, and civic voice. From FAA safety protocols to color theory to visual journalism, every session builds skills that go far beyond the classroom. ✨

Meet Ice, with the Fault Line Derby Devils — Hollister’s very own roller derby league. 🛼

We caught up with Ice at the Hollister Youth Expo to learn about everything they have going on. Founded in 2012, the Derby Devils in recent years launched a junior team for ages 8–17, giving young people a competitive, travel-ready sport right here in our own backyard. They practice at Bolado Park Fairgrounds for just $50/month, with sibling discounts available.

At Audacity, we believe that arts education builds more than performance skills — they build resilience, perseverance, and confidence in young people. We’re proud to be part of a community full of nonprofit organizations like the Fault Line Derby Devils that are investing in those same values.

Meet Raymond, co-founder of JMM Dance Company. 🌟

At Hollister’s Youth Expo we sat down with Raymond to learn about the work JMM is doing for the community. JMM uses movement as a tool for social and emotional learning in public schools — working with children of all ages and abilities.

They’re also behind Cal Kids in downtown Hollister, partnering with the Community Foundation to help parents open accounts and build interest toward their children’s college funds.

At Audacity, we believe arts education is more than a creative outlet — it’s a foundation for college and career readiness and confidence! We’re proud to share space with organizations like JMM that are doing that same work in their own way!
