UCP Central PA- EI and Family Support Services

UCP Central PA- EI and Family Support Services The mission of UCP’s Early Intervention (EI) program is to promote each child’s development.

To that end, our staff of professional therapists' support and educate families of children from birth to age three who are experiencing, or are
at risk for, developmental delays. We encourage independence in everyday life, focus on individual strengths, and provide learning opportunities through playful interaction and engagement in daily routines. But our therapists don’t simply work with these

children, they work with the children in their world. Our EI staff work closely with family members, childcare providers, and other caregivers to provide therapies in the child’s natural environment… be it in the home, at childcare, in the classroom, in the community, or in another familiar setting. The goal of this firsthand coaching is to incorporate strategies that make therapy a seamless part of the child’s everyday routine. We offer a full range of therapies:

Occupational Therapy
Physical Therapy
Speech/Language Therapy
Special Instruction
Nutritional Therapy

The bottom line: UCP Early Intervention is a partnership of parents and professionals working together to give children with special needs the greatest opportunity to grow to their
full potential. UCP's Family Support Services (FSS) Team is committed to the well-being of the entire family unit. To that end, we offer a broad system of support for parents, siblings, and extended family of children, youth, and young adults with a disability or special need.

Families are welcome and encouraged to attend this upcoming support group for caretakers from 1:30pm - 2:30pm on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The support group will be held online via zoom. We understand how difficult taking care of others can be, but it is just as important to take care of yourself. We hope to see you there!

Discussion Prompt: "What hard conversations do you need to have, but don’t feel ready for?”

With guest speaker Liza Mankovskaya!

Liza is a negotiations coach who helps caregivers navigate difficult conversations and advocate more effectively for themselves and their loved ones. She holds a PhD from Princeton University and has professional experience in fundraising for organizations supporting autistic and intellectually disabled young adults.

Liza is also the mother of a 7-year-old with a complex congenital heart condition and other co-occurring diagnoses. Through years of navigating medical systems, insurance, work accommodations, and family responsibilities, she has learned firsthand what it means to advocate under pressure.

She brings together her professional training and personal experience to help caregivers learn how to achieve meaningful results when speaking up for themselves and their children — with the aim of living a fuller and more sustainable life.
