Last week, Camden City metal recycler EMR closed its Waterfront South scrapyard amid an internal investigation into its 15th fire in six years. On Tuesday, the union workers affected by the work stoppage marched from the facility to Camden City Hall to rally support for their jobs.

Happy Tuesday neighbors!

🌱 Last Thursday marked the first meeting of the Community Garden Club. It was great to see some new and returning faces including youth! Residents are growing lots of fun crops this season including turmeric, strawberries, and saffron. We are looking forward to our monthly meetings in Eve’s Garden.

Legal victory! CFET partnered with Earthjustice and several other plaintiffs to force the EPA to regulate the proper disposal of a toxic plastic additive, decaBDE, and won. DecaBDE is present at high levels in car interiors, and when end of life vehicles are shredded this substance is spread into the environment. See details here:

Ruling says the agency failed to justify its lenient regulation of decaBDE

This past weekend CFET co-hosted a Mother’s Day Tea Party in Eve’s Garden in collaboration with Sacred Heart PTO. We enjoyed tea and sweet treats before decorating terracotta pots and planting flowers to take home.

Shoutout to Sacred Heart PTO representatives, Terina , Melissa, and Quicia for your support and amazing teamwork!

Volunteer Spotlight! BIG thank you to Orianna Walker for her support in getting our beehive cleaned for the winter. It was not an easy task and we rely on volunteers for projects like this. Orianna has been involved with CFET since she was a student at Sacred Heart School. We are honored to work alongside such a wonderful, passionate person like Orianna. ♥️ If you’re interested in volunteering, please email [email protected]!
