Connecting Tanzania

Connecting Tanzania Connecting Tanzania is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We are also inspired by the ability to impact the local effort by providing literary resources.

We are committed to improving literacy in Tanzania through the publication of children's books and the establishment of school based libraries. Improve access to education in rural Tanzanian villages: Sounds simple and powerful at the same time. At Connecting Tanzania we are inspired by the commitment of local communities to improve education as a road out of poverty for their children. Literacy

in English and Swahili is required for success and progressions through primary and secondary schools in Tanzania, yet many school have few if any books. Our goal and commitment is two fold. First to build school and orphanage based libraries with age and educationally appropriate books and second to support the publication of books written by local authors that tell stories of local culture, African folktales and African stories.

A high speed printer for the Moshi School District has allowed monthly assessments of all students in the upper primary grades. We are very excited to be partnering with a group of dedicated teachers from Lebanon, NH, on a two year program to support integration of curriculum and sharing teaching strategies for differentiated learning. They are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and skills with schools in the developing world to help improve education on a grass roots level using resources and technology currently available.
