PLEASE SHARE WIDELY:

The MIT BGSA, BSU, along with student leaders across the institute, write this petition calling on MIT leadership to be proactive in making MIT a place where Black people can exist safely and thrive. The objectives of the petition are two-fold to:

Objective 1: Establish demands for the development of a 3-year and 10-year strategic plan to address racial bias at MIT by accomplishing the remaining tasks of the 2015 BSU/BGSA recommendations AND new addendums to the recommendations

Objective 2: Make MIT safe for all students by investigating and implementing new models for public safety that reduce the scale of policing and increase safety and well-being

The MIT Shakespeare Ensemble stands in solidarity with the Black community -- within our group, at MIT, and beyond. We condemn police militarization and brutality. We acknowledge that this nation and its institutions are built upon slavery, genocide, and white supremacy.

AUDITIONS
for the MIT Shakespeare Ensemble's IAP production of

The Importance of Being Earnest
by Oscar Wilde
Directed by Nelson Niu

Smothered by the social pressures of country life, Jacqueline "Jack" Worthing regularly assumes the identity of a man named Ernest to escape to London. As Ernest, they fall in love with the sophisticated Gwendolen and is about to propose when their double life is unveiled by Algernon, Jack's carefree friend. Learning of Jack's precious ward Cecily, Algernon also poses as Ernest in order to infiltrate Jack's country estate and woo her. The Ernests struggle to keep up with their own stories and must reckon with the disapproval of Gwendolen's mother, the stern Lady Bracknell. Chaos and hilarity ensue.

A classic farce with a genderqueer twist.

Auditions will be in 26-314 on
Friday, December 6 from 7pm-10pm
Saturday, December 7 from 1pm-4pm

Callbacks may then be arranged for Sunday, December 8 from 1pm-4pm.
