The Geanco Foundation GEANCO saves and transforms lives in Nigeria. Established in 2005, GEANCO saves and transforms lives in Africa. We lead complex surgical missions to Nigeria.

We run an innovative program to fight anemia and help poor, vulnerable pregnant women deliver healthy babies. Through our David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls, we provide full tuition, medical care, and social & psychological support to young female victims of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria (https://www.geanco.org/portfolio-items/scholarships/). We also donate laptops, books,

medicine and sports facilities to Brightland Academy in the southeast of the country. We proudly count among our supporters Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Charlize Theron, David Oyelowo, Chris Rock, Zoe Saldana, Rachel Brosnahan, Jimmy Kimmel, Thandie Newton, Jeff Daniels, Daisy Ridley, Forest Whitaker, Yvonne Orji, Tyrese, Uzo Aduba, Bryan Cranston, Steven Soderbergh, The Oscars, Disney, CAA, Fox Studios, Janus Funds, Capital Group Companies, Google and Netflix. Afam Onyema graduated cm laude from Harvard University and Stanford Law School and declined several lucrative corporate law offers to lead GEANCO full-time. In 2020, he was named one of the Top Ten Most Influential Africans in the Diaspora.

For most students around the world, summer is an indispensable opportunity to explore and deepen critical academic, creative, and life skills outside of the classroom. That is not the case in Nigeria, however, where millions of youth languish and fall further behind due to a dearth of summer opportunities.

We are changing that reality!

This summer, we are providing a variety of exciting enrichment opportunities to hundreds of students across Nigeria, including:

STEM EDUCATION CAMP, where students are exploring advanced science and computer courses, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and more.

MEDIA SKILLS CAMP, where they are learning photography, video production, and digital media creation.

CREATIVE ARTS CAMP, through a special pro bono partnership with Del-York Creative Academy, Nigeria’s leading film academy, a group of our female scholars are receiving world-class training in filmmaking, acting, and screenwriting.

Nigeria’s most vulnerable youth will come out of this summer enriched, empowered, and inspired!

Before any celebrities or billionaires supported GEANCO - before GEANCO even officially existed - my college classmates were my champions. They were among the very first to believe in me, to walk alongside me and see me through the inevitable challenges and setbacks. As Mother’s Day approaches, we honor the heroic women who give life & provide hope in Nigeria every single day:

The mothers who will soon celebrate their first Mother’s Day at one of our six clinics (with a 7th clinic on the way later this year!)

The mothers who teach & inspire our scholarship girls and skillfully tend to their mental & menstrual health.

The mothers who, serving as nurses & doctors, keep our communities healthy, strong, and joyful.

Our GEANCO mothers are everything to us, and our donors are everything to them❤️
