The Harvard College Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia Association (SIAMA) stands in solidarity with with George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all others who have lost their lives because of racialized violence and police brutality. In collaboration with the following Harvard As/Am organizations and their alumni, we are matching donations of up to $15,000 and counting: AAA, H4A, HPAIR, AAB, HKA, KSA, HVA, HAPA, SIAMA, HPF, KISA, ASAP, HCAP. Here is the link to donate, with details about the fundraiser: https://gf.me/u/x6psgk
We are also appending a list of resources on racism, both in the United States and in our respective countries of origin. While being sensitive to the clear differences in the histories and experiences of racism across these contexts, we affirm also the global similarities in the logic, patterns and structures of racial discrimination, condemning all attitudes and behaviours that strip the dignity and humanity of the Other.
