A prettier bag was tempting. But prettier packaging doesn’t feed a hamster.

So we changed our minds. 🤷‍♀️

Enchanted Forage Mix is getting simpler packaging and a smarter production process, because we’d rather put our resources into what’s inside the bag and the animals those bags support.

Swipe for the whole story, including exactly where our ingredients come from, why I’m officially retiring from my career as a hamster vegetable dehydrator, and the extremely glamorous new packaging. 😂

More for your hamster. More for rescue.

And while we’re talking transparency: if it goes in the shop, we’ll tell you where we got it. ❤️

That’s the SWRC you trust. 🐹

The 71 hamsters are getting out of quarantine, which means it’s time to start separating them into smaller groups as much as we can. But… how? 😭

Everyone is already separated by s*x, and hamsters with medical needs are housed individually. Now we need to break the remaining groups down further so they have more space and we can better monitor and care for them.

The problem? Our cages are full. We’re running out of space for more freestanding cages. We need ROOM.

These hamsters came to us living in severely overcrowded conditions, and getting them safe was only step one. Right now, we’re doing the best we can with the space we have while prioritizing safety, medical needs, and smaller group sizes.

This is exactly why SWRC needs a space of its own. Our home has stretched about as far as it can stretch, and the need just keeps growing.

71 hamsters didn’t just need somewhere to land. They need room to heal.

If you can help us build that next chapter, our fundraiser is linked in bio. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this post helps more than you know. 🐹💛

This is a special weekend where we are graced by the presence of Jeff, our beloved friend and the treasurer of SWRC 🥺🩷 Jeff helped Kyle (unpaid spousal labor) and I move furniture into our cute new office. IKEA building party to be announced soon 😝

I’m so, so grateful for all the loving help I am lucky enough to have! Such a great example of how having a facility to get more hands on-deck will be life-changing for our animals 🙏

And of course, biggest thanks of all goes to Baby Bluebird for supervising the operation 🫡 Could not do it without you, buddy. 😘

‼️TRIAGE CAGE ONLY‼️ In case you missed it, we just took in 7️⃣1️⃣ near IDENTICAL hamsters from a private owner 😮‍💨 This cage is only 14 of them. 😬 So. . .we’ve reached a tipping point and now are fundraising for SoCal’s first hamster rescue facility!

We have already received such loving support and are so so grateful 🙏 To see more of the story and donate to these cuties, see the link in bio or the homepage of RescueCottage.org 🩷
