Good evening, Citizens for Calvert!
Tomorrow the BOCC returns for its regular meeting at 10:00 AM. You can tune in online or join your neighbors in person at the County Administration Building in the first floor Chesapeake Hearing Room. The agenda spans several pages and includes discussion of Text Amendment 26-23 in the afternoon, with public comment expected to begin around 3:10 PM.
Additionally, please make sure you have signed the petition supporting a two year moratorium on data center development in Calvert County. While this motion has been voted down before, every signature and every share sends a clear message that residents' concerns are real, widespread, and deserve to be taken seriously. The more community members who speak up, stay informed, and stay engaged, the harder it becomes to ignore these concerns. Please sign, share, and encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same! https://c.org/YHpJ776YMF

📢 FYI!
Multi-org supported protest happening TODAY, 4/28/26!

📍Natelli is hosting a “pop-up” event this evening at the library in Prince Frederick. Several organizations are encouraging community members to gather outside from 4–7 PM.
✊This is a peaceful protest, so please be respectful of entrances, library patrons, and do not block traffic. That said, we also don’t see a need to roll out the red carpet for Natelli either.
🪧 If you’re able, show up, bring your signs, and tell them we do NOT want their Data Centers in Calvert.

🚨CALL TO ACTION!🚨
✏️Demand a School Buffer Zone!✏️

Did you know that data centers operate 24/7? Yup. They produce constant low-frequency noise that can travel for miles. Research shows this type of noise is especially harmful to children, leading to decreased concentration, lower reading comprehension, and increased stress.

What does that mean for our kids?
➡️ Disrupted learning and focus
➡️ Increased stress and behavioral impacts
➡️ Outdoor play and activities affected
➡️ A constant noise environment at home and at school

Noise pollution is not just annoying; it directly impacts cognitive development and long-term health outcomes for students. A 5-mile Student Safety and Public Asset Buffer Zone is a necessary step to address this.

🚨Citizens for Calvert- Action Alert🚨

Over the next few days, we will be sharing information about why data center placement near our schools and public spaces matters, and what it could mean for our Calvert County.

Right now, we are asking for your support!

Citizens for Calvert is advocating for Text Amendment #26-23 to include a 5-mile Student Safety and Public Asset Buffer Zone between data centers and CCPS schools and public parks. This is about setting clear, reasonable boundaries to protect our children, our classrooms, and the spaces our community depends on. Many of you have already done your research and know the risks the issues data centers pose to community spaces.

Hello Citizens!

Thank you to everyone who has filled out our Google form and shared it with your networks. We truly appreciate it. Taking the step from reading about an issue to getting involved is not always easy, and it means a lot to see so many people ready to show up. If you signed up, keep an eye out for a welcome email from us this week.

Tonight, we are encouraging our community to come out to the Planning and Zoning meeting. With the recent comments about potential home buyouts on Camp Conoy and HG Trueman, and ongoing conversations around the park, and presence near the schools, this is an important moment to be present and informed.

Say hello! to Karl and Nancy of Camp Canoy who will be there, along with our friends at Save Lusby Inc, and we hope to see many of you as well. Sometimes the most impactful thing you can do is simply show up. You will leave more informed, and you might just find your people along the way.

Hello Citizens for Calvert, and welcome!

We are so glad you are here. And honestly… if you needed a reason to be here, this is it.
From Section 10a, Planning Commission Member Compiled Comments in tomorrow night’s Planning and Zoning agenda (7pm):

“The county should require AWS to purchase all homes on Camp Conoy Rd and the east side of HG Trueman Rd… remove the homes and add more trees and hills as a buffer.”
(Link in the comments)

Just when we think we have heard it all and this is exactly what we have been talking about. Information like this is buried at the end of agendas, behind links, and tucked into pages most people will never see or know to look at. And yet, the implications are huge. Recommending buying out homes? Placement near the middle school? These are not small conversations, and they should not be hard to find. So, let us properly introduce ourselves.

We are Citizens for Calvert, and we are tired of this. But also, we are a community organization dedicated to raising awareness about local data center development and its impact on our county. We may be a small group right now, but we are growing every day, and we want you to join us. Our goal is simple. We connect and coordinate residents who want to stay informed and take action, whether that means attending public meetings, sharing information, or standing together to advocate for transparency and accountability in local decision making. At the same time, we are also exploring legal avenues in coordination with partner organizations as part of a longer-term approach.

As this issue has unfolded, a few things have become clear. There has been a troubling lack of transparency surrounding data center development in Calvert. At the same time, we have seen the strength of our community, the power of people showing up, and a deep love for the place we call home. This is our favorite part, and we genuinely believe everyone has a role to play if we want a fighting chance. Whether you are here to stay informed, help share information, attend meetings, dig through documents, or bring a specific skill set, every role matters. The issue we are facing is a big one, but if we work together, it is not an impossible one.
We are launching our interest form today.

Tell us if you want to stay informed, get involved, or both. There is a place for everyone here.
We are just getting started, and we are glad you are here!

Thank you for your enthusiasm in restoring our voices during the data center discussion in Calvert County. Please fill out this form so we personalize engagement opportunities.
