A Somebody Cares Box is one of the most tangible expressions of The Hadden Foundation. For our through Fighting Cancer initiative, each box is designed around the real needs of patients and caregivers.

Our foundational rule is simple: usefulness over aesthetics. We do not build promotional swag bags. We listen to healthcare partners, social workers, and families to find out what actually brings physical comfort during long treatment days.

The boxes include things like a warm blanket, skin-safe lotion, practical fuel cards, or an engaging activity for a child in treatment communicates something vital: somebody saw you, somebody thought about you, and you are not forgotten.

Save this post to learn more about how we turn compassionate thought into physical relief.

Before I ever understood leadership strategy or communication frameworks, I understood what it meant to sweep a fellowship hall after everyone went home.

Pastor Bill and Deana Hadden modeled servant leadership every single day. They taught us that no task is beneath you when you are caring for people God loves.

That same posture guides The Hadden Foundation today. Whether we are planning a major gala or assembling care boxes by hand, the heart remains humble service.

What is one unglamorous act of service that taught you the most about life? Tell us in the comments.

Pastors and ministry leaders often carry the burden of feeling like every outreach effort requires a new staff member, a new budget, and a complex program.

The most effective ministry often happens through simple collaboration. Look at the organizations, healthcare workers, and families already in your pews.

When a congregation decides to mobilize around one specific, tangible need, faith moves from the sanctuary directly into the community.

Send this post to your pastor or outreach director if your church is looking for practical ways to serve locally this season.

Many small business owners in Jacksonville want to help their community but assume financial sponsorship is the only open door. Here are four other resources your company already has.

First, donated services. Professional skills like photography, design, legal counsel, or printing directly reduce operational costs for community projects.

Second, meeting space. Offering your conference room or facility for volunteer coordination or planning sessions is an enormous gift.

Third, employee service hours. Allowing your team a half-day to pack Somebody Cares Boxes or serve locally builds culture while meeting real needs.

Fourth, customer introductions. Connecting local initiatives with other business leaders in your network multiplies capacity fast.

Save this post for your next quarterly business planning meeting.

When we need printing, event production, photography, or catering, our first instinct is to look right here in Northeast Florida.

We believe stewardship means keeping charitable dollars circulating through the community we are dedicated to serving. When we hire a local small business, that owner pays local staff, supports their family, and strengthens our regional economy.

We do not expect local businesses to work for free just because we are a nonprofit. We believe in paying professionals fairly and treating them as valued partners in our community ecosystem.

Drop the name of your favorite Jacksonville or Northeast Florida small business or tag them below so we can get to know them.

Six months.. That's how long Pastor William L. Hadden lived after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Six months that forever changed our family.

And while cancer may have taken someone we loved, it also gave us a firsthand understanding of something that doesn't always get talked about enough.

Cancer doesn't just affect the person receiving the diagnosis. It affects everyone who loves them.

The spouses who become caregivers. The children watching their parents fight. The families navigating appointments, treatments, uncertainty, and the emotional weight of it all.

Our board members know that journey personally.

And when it came time to choose the very first Somebody Cares Initiative for The Hadden Foundation, our hearts kept coming back to the people walking through what we've experienced ourselves.

Fighting Cancer. Sharing Hope.

Because we know we can't take away someone's diagnosis. But we CAN show up. We can offer comfort. We can meet practical needs. We can pray. We can remind patients and caregivers that they don't have to walk through their hardest days feeling forgotten.

That's the kind of impact we want to make in our community.

And on November 5th, we're inviting YOU to help us begin.🀎

Join us in Jacksonville, Florida, for The Empty Chair Dinner, our inaugural gala featuring an elevated dinner experience, inspiring speakers, powerful stories, and a Silent Auction... all supporting the launch of our first Somebody Cares Initiative.

When a family faces a severe medical diagnosis, the sheer weight of the situation can make friends pull away because they do not know what to say.

You do not need to have medical answers, financial solutions, or a perfectly packaged speech. Trying to solve everything is not your job.

Your presence is what matters. Sitting quietly on a porch, holding a hand in a waiting room, or simply being the person who stays when things get uncomfortable is where healing begins.

Share this with someone who needs a reminder that showing up is always enough.

On November 5th, we're filling a room with people who believe caring about our community should actually lead to doing something about it.

It's called The Empty Chair Dinner.

And there's a reason for that name.
One chair will remain empty all night.

Not simply to represent someone we've lost like you might see at a wedding or another event... but to represent someone who still needs us.

Someone fighting cancer.
A family sitting beside a hospital bed.
Someone who needs to know they haven't been forgotten.

That night, we're officially launching The Hadden Foundation's first Somebody Cares Initiative: Fighting Cancer. Sharing Hope.

And we're bringing together people from across Jacksonville who want to be part of what happens next.

You don't have to own a business.
You don't have to lead a church.
You don't have to be some huge philanthropist.

You just have to care enough to take a seat.

November 5th. The Salem Centre in Jacksonville.

Come take your place at the table.
