We’re excited to welcome Haley to the Pathways Family Resource Center team as our Summer Intern!
This summer, Haley will be learning alongside our staff, supporting programs, and helping us continue our mission of empowering children and families through connection, inclusion, and support.
Take a moment to get to know Haley a little better in the questions below, and be sure to say hello when you see her around the center! 💜
1. I am from Bloomingdale, Ohio and am about to begin my senior year at tOSU this coming fall. I am a psychology major and am minoring in both education and ASL. In my free time I like to read, hang with my friends and family, and build puzzles.
2. I have been interested in clinical psychology since my junior year in high school, but it wasn’t until I started shadowing some therapy sessions that I decided that I wanted to work with children and families. My favorite sessions to shadow were playroom sessions and parent sessions. I had this feeling that this was my professional calling.
3. I am currently a Psychology major and am minoring in education and ASL. In the future, I am hoping to get into tOSU’s Counselors of Education MA Program on the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track. After that, I am hoping to get licensed and work at a private practice working primarily with the children and young adults of the Deaf community.
4. I was interested in interning at Pathways Family Resource Center because I wanted to gain clinical experience with individuals with disabilities. I believe that it is important to have the skills required to serve future clients to the best of my abilities, no matter the individual. I really admire the work that Pathways for Inclusion does and I am excited to be apart of it!
5. This summer I am most excited to learn how the sessions are ran in a group setting. I have only ever shadowed one-on-one sessions and am looking forward to experiencing group ones!
6. During my internship, I am hoping to contribute in sessions in whatever way I can, whether that be setting/cleaning up or helping out with the kids. I am hoping that my contributions will have a positive impact on their experience!
7. My favorite activity to do with kids is doing crafts or anything creative!
8. Fun fact: This fall, I will be signing the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance on the field before OSU football games in the Shoe!
9. To me, inclusion means giving everyone access to any opportunities and resources they want/need to reach their full potential. Inclusion is treating everyone with the respect that they deserve regardless of their backgrounds.
10. I would describe myself as cheerful, kind, and driven.
