𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀

𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝟮𝟴:𝟱-𝟴 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[5] But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. [6] He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

This passage from Matthew 28:5-8 is a pivotal moment in the New Testament, marking the announcement of Jesus' resurrection. An angel appears to the women who had come to anoint Jesus' body, assuring them not to fear and explaining that Jesus is no longer in the tomb, he has risen, just as he said. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲?

Today, take one moment to write down a specific way you can share the news of Jesus' resurrection with someone else, whether it's a friend, a coworker, or even a family member. It could be as simple as saying, "I believe Jesus is alive, and that changes everything."

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆

Lord, thank you for the gift of your resurrection. Help me to live with the confidence that you are alive and that your power is greater than any fear I face. Give me courage to share this truth with others. Amen.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗔 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆

𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝟮𝟮:𝟮𝟮-𝟮𝟱 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[22] Up to this word they listened to him. Then they raised their voices and said, “Away with such a fellow from the earth! For he should not be allowed to live.” [23] And as they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, [24] the tribune ordered him to be brought into the barracks, saying that he should be examined by flogging, to find out why they were shouting against him like this. [25] But when they had stretched him out for the whips, Paul said to the centurion who was standing by, “Is it lawful for you to flog a man who is a Roman citizen and uncondemned?” (ESV)

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

This passage from Acts 22:22-25 shows Paul standing firm in the face of violent opposition from the Jewish crowd in Jerusalem. They are so enraged by his message that they demand his death, even throwing off their clothes and throwing dust into the air, a sign of a mob preparing for stoning. James Burton Coffman notes that this scene reveals the depth of hatred toward Paul's message, especially his claim that Gentiles are included in God's plan of salvation. When the crowd's fury is too great for the Roman commander to ignore, he orders Paul to be flogged to find out why they are shouting. But just as the soldiers are about to beat him, Paul asserts his Roman citizenship, a legal right that protects him from being flogged without a trial. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

Paul's experience shows that the truth of the gospel can provoke strong reactions, even to the point of violence. But it also shows the importance of standing firm in our identity, whether that's as a believer, a citizen, or someone who has been called to speak God's truth. Just as Paul used his Roman citizenship to protect himself, we too are called to live with integrity, knowing the rights and privileges we have in Christ. His courage in the face of danger reminds us that our faith should be lived boldly, even when the world is against us.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

- When have I stood firm in my beliefs, even when others were opposed to them?
- How do I handle situations where my identity, whether as a believer, a citizen, or a member of a community, is challenged or disrespected?
- What would it look like for me to be more aware of the privileges I have, and to use them in a way that honors God?

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲?

Today, take a moment to reflect on the rights and privileges you have, whether as a citizen, a member of your church, or a follower of Christ. Then, think of one way you can use those privileges to stand up for what is right, just as Paul did, without being disrespectful or arrogant.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆

Lord, help me to be bold in my faith, even when the world is against me. Give me the courage to stand firm in truth, and the wisdom to use my privileges in ways that honor You. Keep me from being afraid or silent when I should speak up. Amen.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗵'𝘀 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀

𝗟𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝟮𝟬:𝟰𝟭-𝟰𝟳 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[41] But he said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is David’s son? [42] For David himself says in the Book of Psalms,

“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
[43] until I make your enemies your footstool.”’

[44] David thus calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”

In Luke 20:41-47, Jesus is challenging the religious leaders' understanding of who the Messiah is. 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗔 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲

𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝟭:𝟭𝟭-𝟭𝟱 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[11] For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you—[12] that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. [13] I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles. [14] I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. [15] So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. (ESV)

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

In Romans 1:11-15, Paul writes with deep longing and purpose. He's not just visiting Rome; he's seeking to strengthen the church there with a spiritual gift and to be mutually encouraged by their faith. Coffman notes that Paul saw the importance of building up the Roman church, which, despite existing, lacked formal leadership like elders and deacons. Paul's motivation wasn't just about giving, but about shared growth and encouragement. He even humbly acknowledges that he would benefit from their faith as well. This shows that ministry is not one-way, it's relational and mutually uplifting. Paul's eagerness to preach the gospel to the Romans reveals his heart for all people, regardless of background or wisdom.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

This passage reminds us that our relationships in the body of Christ are meant to be life-giving. Ministry is not just about giving, it's about being part of a community that lifts each other up. And like Paul, we're called to have a heart for sharing the gospel with all people, not just those who are already believers.

Where am I most eager to encourage others in their faith?

Today, take one person in your church or small group and intentionally check in with them, ask how they're doing, listen more than you speak, and offer a word of encouragement. It doesn't have to be grand, just genuine.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆

Lord, help me to be a source of encouragement to others and to be open to being encouraged in return. Give me a heart that longs to share the gospel with those around me, just as Paul did. May my relationships be marked by humility and mutual growth. Amen.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻

𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟭𝟵:𝟯-𝟲 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[3] They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands. [4] Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.” [5] So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!” [6] When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.” (ESV)

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

This passage shows Jesus being mocked by the Jewish leaders, beaten, and paraded before the crowd as a criminal, all while Pilate insists on his innocence. James Burton Coffman notes that Pilate's repeated attempts to release Jesus reveal his determination to avoid crucifying him, but he underestimates the depth of the Jewish leaders' hatred. Jesus, even in suffering, is portrayed as the "man" who has done no wrong, and Pilate's final words, "I find no crime in him", echo the truth that Jesus is innocent of the charges brought against him (John 19:4-6).

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

This passage challenges us to consider how we treat those who are different from us, or who stand for something we don't agree with. Pilate saw Jesus' innocence but was afraid of the crowd. We, too, may be tempted to avoid standing for what is right because of fear of what others might think. But Jesus didn't back down, he endured mockery, suffering, and rejection, all for the sake of others.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

- Where am I quick to judge or mock someone else, even if I don't fully understand their situation?
- How often do I stay silent when I know what is right, because I don't want to cause conflict or be unpopular?
- What parts of my life reflect the kind of courage Jesus showed in the face of suffering and injustice?

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲?

Today, when you see someone being treated unfairly or mocked, say something, just one kind word, or a simple, "That's not right." It doesn't have to be a big action, but it should be a clear, Christ-like response.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆

Lord, help me to stand for what is right, even when it's hard. Give me the courage to speak up for others and to treat everyone with kindness, just as You did. Amen.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱

𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝟲:𝟰-𝟳 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[4] But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” [5] And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. [6] These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

In Acts 6:4-7, the early church is facing a practical challenge: the needs of widows in the community are not being met equally, and tensions are rising. The apostles, recognizing that they can't handle everything themselves, propose a solution: they'll continue to focus on prayer and the ministry of the word, while others will take on the task of distributing food and care to the needy. This decision shows that the church values spiritual priorities above all else, but not at the expense of practical care. James Burton Coffman notes that the ministry of the word is the first and highest duty, and this passage makes it clear that the apostles are not abandoning their responsibilities, they're simply delegating so they can stay focused on their calling. Whether it's setting aside time to read the Bible, praying for our families, or sharing the gospel, we need to prioritize what matters most. The early church didn't ignore the needs of others, they just made sure they weren't missing the bigger picture.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

- Where in my life am I trying to do too much, and could I delegate more so I can focus on what matters most?
- Am I making time for prayer and Scripture, even when life gets busy?
- How can I ensure I'm not neglecting spiritual priorities in favor of other responsibilities?

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲?

Today, take 10 minutes to pray for your family, friends, and even people you don't know. Write down three names and ask God to guide you in how to help them, whether through a call, a visit, or simply a kind word. This is a small but meaningful step toward living with the same focus on spiritual priorities that the early church had.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆

Lord, help me to stay focused on the most important things, prayer and the ministry of Your word. Show me where I need to delegate, and guide me in how to help others without losing sight of what matters most. Give me wisdom and clarity, and help me to live with purpose and intention. Amen.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀' 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭:𝟮-𝟱 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[2] who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. [3] Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

And then there's that powerful line about Jesus freeing us from our sins by His blood, this is the heart of the gospel, right here in the opening lines.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

This passage is a reminder that God's word is real, it's powerful, and it's for us. The Book of Revelation isn't just about the end of the world or strange visions, it's about God's plan, His love, and His promise to save those who trust in Him. And it's not just for the early church, it's for us today. When John says, "Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy," he's saying that we're called to pay attention, to listen, and to live by what God has revealed. This is a call to take God's word seriously, to keep it, and to let it shape our lives.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲

𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝟭𝟳:𝟴-𝟭𝟮 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[8] And the people and the city authorities were disturbed when they heard these things. [9] And when they had taken money as security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.

[10] The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. [11] Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. [12] Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Greek women of high standing as well as men. (ESV)

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

In Acts 17:8-12, we see the ripple effect of the gospel in Thessalonica, where Paul and Silas are accused of causing disturbance and forced to flee under the threat of violence. James Burton Coffman notes that the authorities took security from Jason and others, likely a heavy financial guarantee, to ensure Paul wouldn't return. This wasn't just a legal move, it was a way to protect the city from further unrest and to keep Paul out of the picture. But instead of being discouraged, the believers immediately acted, sending Paul and Silas away by night to Berea.

In Berea, the Jewish community was more open and eager to receive the message than those in Thessalonica. Coffman highlights that they "examined the scriptures daily to see if these things were so." This was a turning point. The Bereans weren't just listening, they were digging, checking, and testing the truth of the gospel against God's Word. And as a result, many believed, including some Greek women of high standing. Their noble response is a powerful example of how the Word of God can transform hearts when it's approached with humility and eagerness to know the truth.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

There's a lot we can learn from the Bereans. In our own lives, we're often faced with messages that claim to be truth, whether from media, friends, or even well-meaning people in our church. But the Bereans remind us that we don't just accept things at face value. We need to test them, to examine them, to see if they align with Scripture. This isn't about being suspicious or cynical, it's about being faithful, honest, and committed to the truth that God has revealed in His Word.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

- Where do I find myself rushing to accept things without checking them against Scripture?
- Am I as eager to dig into God's Word as the Bereans were?
- Do I see my own life as a place where I need to be more open to the possibility that I might be wrong?

Today, pick one passage of Scripture you've heard or read about recently, and spend 10 minutes reading through it carefully. Then, look up a few related verses to see how they fit together. After that, write down one thing you learned or one question you have, just one. That's it. A simple, intentional step to follow the example of the Bereans.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀

𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝟭𝟳:𝟭𝟵-𝟮𝟯 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[19] Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” [20] He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

[22] As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, [23] and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed. (ESV)

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

In Matthew 17:19-23, we see a conversation between Jesus and His disciples after a failed attempt to cast out a demon. The disciples come to Jesus privately, asking why they couldn't do what He had done. Jesus responds that their lack of faith was the reason. James Burton Coffman notes that the disciples had some faith, but not enough, like a grain of mustard seed, which is tiny but powerful. He also highlights that this kind of demon could only be cast out through prayer and fasting, something the disciples had apparently neglected. Then, in verses 22-23, Jesus again foretells His death and resurrection, a message that deeply distresses the disciples. Coffman points out that this is the second time Jesus has spoken about His suffering, and it's significant that He brings it up again in Galilee, showing how central this truth is to His mission.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

This passage reminds us that faith is not just belief, it's belief that moves mountains. It's not about having perfect faith or never doubting, but about trusting Jesus even when we don't understand. And it's about the power of prayer and fasting, not as a magical formula, but as a way to align our hearts with God's will. Then, in the middle of it all, Jesus speaks again of His death and resurrection, a reminder that the greatest act of faith is trusting in His sacrifice for us. Our lives are shaped by what we believe and how we respond to God's Word.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

- Where am I struggling with faith? Is there something I'm holding onto that's keeping me from trusting God completely?
- Am I regularly making time to pray and fast? Or am I relying on my own strength instead of God's?
- How do I respond when God speaks to me about His plans, especially when they're difficult or painful?

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲?

Today, take a few minutes to pray specifically about one thing you're struggling with, something you've been holding onto or afraid of. Write it down and ask God to help you trust Him more deeply. If you feel led, fast for a day or part of a day as a way to draw closer to Him and seek His strength.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆

Lord, help me to trust You more fully, even when I don't understand. Teach me the power of prayer and fasting, and help me not to rely on my own strength. When I feel afraid or uncertain, remind me of Your promises. Amen.

𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝟴:𝟭𝟴-𝟮𝟭 (𝗘𝗦𝗩)

[18] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. [19] For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. [20] For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope [21] that the creation itself will be set free from its bo***ge to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?

Paul is writing to the Christians in Rome, reminding them that even though they face suffering now, the glory that awaits them in the future is far greater. In Romans 8:18, he says that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us. This is part of a larger teaching about the hope of eternal life and the redemption of all things. Coffman notes that this glory will be fully realized at the second coming of Christ, when all the problems of this world will be solved. The creation itself, he says, is waiting eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God, and it will be set free from its bo***ge to corruption to share in the glory of the children of God (Romans 8:19-21). This passage is part of a broader theme in Romans 8 about the hope of believers and the ultimate triumph of God over sin and death.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

This is a powerful reminder that our current struggles are temporary and pale in comparison to the eternal glory that awaits us. But this passage encourages us to look beyond the present and fix our eyes on the future, where we will be fully united with God and free from all suffering. It's not that we should ignore our pain or pretend it doesn't matter, it's that we can endure it with hope because we know God has a greater plan.

Then, next to it, write a short reminder of God's promise: that this is not the end, and that His glory will one day surpass all of this. Keep it somewhere visible, like on your mirror or phone, so you can be reminded of this truth throughout your day.

Lord, help me not to lose sight of the glory that awaits me. When I feel weighed down by the burdens of this life, remind me that You are working all things together for good. Give me the strength to endure with hope, knowing that my suffering is not in vain. Amen.
