Cause For Paws Rescue, Illinois Cause for Paws Rescue is a licensed not for profit 501c3 animal rescue organization. All dogs in our program are fostered through our network of volunteers.

We are 100% foster based. We do most of our adoptions at the DeKalb, IL Petsmart. Cause for Paws Rescue is an all-breed rescue group made up of dedicated volunteers, who open their hearts and their homes to provide a safe haven for our orphans, who come to us from Animal Control, High-Kill Shelters and owner surrender situations.

🍎 Meet Taffy Apple (Taffy)! The Sweetest Girl Around! 🍎🐾

If you’re looking for a sweet, loving companion with a heart of gold, let us introduce you to Taffy! ❤️

Taffy is an estimated 5–7-year-old Beagle/Basset Hound mix who has already spent time being a wonderful mama to her four puppies. Now it’s her turn to be spoiled, loved, and cherished by a family of her very own! 🥹💕

Taffy, her four puppies, and another dog named Cinnabon recently made their way into rescue after being transferred from a home where the dogs were not receiving the care they deserved. More than 20 dogs from this situation have now found their way to various rescues, giving them a chance at the fresh start they need.

Despite her rough beginning, Taffy’s sweet personality shines through. She absolutely LOVES people and is happiest when she gets to spend time with her humans. She enjoys playing with toys, walks nicely on a leash, is potty trained, and does well in her kennel. She’s also good with other dogs and cats, although she’d prefer her canine friends keep all four paws on the ground instead of jumping all over her! 😂

Taffy is currently getting some extra TLC while we help her skin heal and her beautiful fur grow back. She will also be spayed in the coming weeks, after which she’ll be ready to find her forever family. ❤️

This girl has done her time being a mama. Now it’s time for someone to make her the baby! She deserves soft beds, full bellies, gentle hands, fun toys, and a family who will love her for the rest of her life.

🚨 MEET RAMBO… THE CAT-DOG IN DISGUISE! 🐱🐾

Rambo is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu looking for a family who understands that sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for. ❤️

This handsome little guy can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but give him a little time and patience, and you’ll discover what a sweetheart he really is! 🥹 Once you’re in his inner circle, Rambo is happy to curl up in your lap and enjoy the good life.

And can we talk about his sleeping arrangements?! 😂 Rambo prefers to snooze on the BACK of the couch like a cat! Apparently, being a dog is just a technicality. He really does love cats, though, so maybe he’s just confused about his species. 🤷‍♀️🐈

Here’s what makes Rambo so special:

🐾 Pretty quiet and easygoing.

We put Rory to work this past weekend at Autumn-On parade in hopes she would find her forever people. Her sister was successful but she’s still waiting and she’s not sure why 😔 Rory is social, loves to walk and came back to relax in the shade while all the kids loved on her. Rory is sweet, patient, playful, and so well-behaved for 4 month old puppy.
