There’s no irony we filed this motion the day before the Montana PSC votes on a rate increase from Northwestern Energy to pay for a power plant to fuel data centers. Local government in Butte and corporate spokespeople claim data centers won’t raise power rates when our monopoly utility is already trying to raise our rates to fuel data centers. Let’s force them to be match words to actions.

After all the tall promises from out-of-state corporations and incorrect information from local government, sometimes there’s a need to add a layer of protections and accountability. We invite Northwestern Energy and Butte-Silver Bow to join us in making sure people are protected and we’re not forced to subsidize another century of corporations getting the gold and giving the people of Butte the shaft!.

"Time is of the essence. It has been too long and people have suffered from it and they need to have their rights protected and they need to have their health protected. They deserve to have a clean environment here. They don’t have to live with this for another 40 years," says Sister Mary Jo McDonald.
Thank you to Meagan Thompson with KXLF Butte for your ongoing coverage of Superfund coverage.

A new activist group led by Sister Mary Jo McDonald is calling on the Butte community to help make sure the EPA follows through with proposed new plans for lead cleanup.
