Bald Creek Relief

I have been putting off making this post for a while because so many things have been up in the air. Sadly, the owner of the Bald Creek School building did not get the septic, water, and heat functional this summer as planned. Without those essentials taken care of we have not been able to create the community center like we had hoped to do. We have spent the last few months getting all of the remaining supplies out to other donation sites like Bee Log Relief, Reconciliation House, and a few others in Yancey and Madison. We will be keeping Bald Creek Relief intact as a nonprofit until we have finished clearing out the school building and distributing what little remaining funds we have left to other local hurricane relief nonprofits. Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered, donated, and helped take care of our community for the past 15 months! We are forever grateful to all of you who gave your time, money, and hearts to our community. You will not be forgotten ❤️

***Our last day for shopping was September 26th. The remaining food has gone to Reconciliation House. We have a box of 40+ of these pouches meals. I believe they are for people who use feeding tubes, but I’m not sure. They don’t expire til March 2026. Message me if you know someone who needs them.

After much consideration, Bald Creek Relief will be closing the food pantry and supply hub effective Sept 26th. Appointments are still available for shopping on September 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th. Appointments can be made at baldcreekrelief.youcanbook.me

We are excited to announce that during the closure, we will be working with our partner, Appalachian Disaster Coalition, to create and open the Southern Appalachia Community Center.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us help our community! This is not the end, but the beginning of something new.

The winner of the fly rod was drawn on August 9th and he requested we not name or tag him since he plans to gift the rod to his son for Christmas! Thank you to all who purchased tickets! The money raised went towards produce and eggs for our food pantry.
