You don't have to keep trying to measure up.

Not to the world's expectations. Not to everyone else's standards. And not to earn your way into God's Kingdom.

Because the truth is, none of us could ever measure up on our own. But Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves. He took our sin. He conquered death. And through Him, we're offered a new life.

Baptism is a public declaration of that new life. It's an outward expression of the faith you've placed in Jesus and a declaration that your life belongs to Him.

You can have everything the world applauds and still be building something that won't last.

This week we saw that King Belshazzar had the power, wealth, influence, and recognition. By the world's standards, he had it all. But when God weighed his kingdom, it was found wanting.

And that leaves us with a question we can't afford to ignore: What would God find if He weighed the kingdom we're building?

What has your worship? What has your surrender? What determines your worth?

The truth is, every earthly kingdom will eventually fall. But the Kingdom of Jesus will stand forever.

Stop building what cannot last. Surrender to the King whose Kingdom never falls.

We all have plans. Dreams. Goals. A picture of what we want our lives to look like.

But somewhere along the way, it's easy to become more focused on building the life we want than surrendering to the One who gave us life.

And sometimes, the hardest thing to lay down isn't something bad. It's something we've worked really hard to build. Your plans. Your priorities. Your future.

Pride doesn’t always sound like “Look how great I am.” It can show up in the last word you won’t let go of, the correction you resist, or the credit you want someone to notice.

Following Jesus means letting Him lead in those moments, too. Because He is good, you can trust Him with what you’re holding tightly.

This week, surrender may look like listening before defending yourself, offering an apology, or taking a step of obedience before you know the outcome.

Pause and ask: “Jesus, where is pride getting in the way of my next yes?”

Whatever this week holds, remember: the presence of the fire does not mean the absence of God.

Some fires He delivers us from. Some He carries us through.

Either way, He is with you.

Following Jesus doesn’t mean we’ll never walk through hard things.

There will be seasons of hurt, grief, uncertainty, and fire. But the presence of the fire does not mean the absence of God. He is faithful in the middle of it.

Some fires He delivers us from. Some fires He carries us through. But there is no fire beyond His presence.

Fear always wants to pull us into the “what ifs.”
What if it doesn’t work out? What if I lose control? What if God doesn’t answer the way I hoped?

But faith looks different.
Faith says, even if the outcome isn’t what I want, God is still good, still present, and still worthy of my trust.

If you’re walking through uncertainty right now, let this be your reminder: God is able — and even if the fire doesn’t go the way you hoped, He is still with you.
