Piedmont Fibershed The Piedmont Fibershed encompasses the area roughly within a 200 mile radius of Durham, North Carolina. What is a Fibershed? What about our clothes?

Piedmont Fibershed is a community organization dedicated to building a regional fiber system in the Piedmont of North Carolina centered around local fibers, local dyes, and local labor. We seek to support and develop a regional fiber economy that benefits the environment, workers, and the local economy. A fibershed is a natural textile resource base that uses the region as its guiding force in sou

rcing and making available fiber, textile, and dye products. We’re so invested in locally sourcing our food.

Join us August 1st and 2nd for this two-day, interactive workshop designed to help creative entrepreneurs working in fibers and textiles.

Hosted in partnership wtih Mountain BizWorks, this workshop includes:

🐛 Day 1: we’ll explore your mission, vision, and values — then apply them to real-world business structures using the Business Model Canvas. We’ll also dive into pricing strategies, marketing approaches, and sustainable models tailored to your goals.

🦋 Day 2: 30-minute 1:1 coaching sessions — you’ll sign up for your coaching slot on Saturday

After the workshop, you’ll gain access to four self-paced online courses so that you can continue working on your business skills:

Our June crafting & coworking dates have arrived!

Bring your stitching, knitting, spinning, works in progress, writing, laptop work, etc and help us weave community and creativity together in our Fiber Lab.

Attendees are welcome ot try out our growing collection of donated makerspace tools such as hand cards, drop spindles, and an e-spinner.

We hope to see you there!

Take a break in the foothills at Blue Ridge Fiber Fest, an annual event bringing together farmers, vendors, and fiber artists for a celebration of the fiber arts in beautiful downtown Sparta, NC.

Dozens of classes will be available: knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving and more. Demonstrations will include both traditional and modern fiber techniques as well as farming operations.

Where: Higgins Fairgrounds in Sparta, NC.

Did you know that we sell weaving yarn? 🧶

Head over to www.piedmontfibershed.org/shop to take a look at our inventory of natural fiber weaving yarns in cotton, linen, wool, and alpaca in a rainbow of gorgeous colors.

All of the yarns in our inventory were leftovers from local mills who didn’t want them anymore—and many of them were spun right here in North Carolina!
