The first named village postmarks of British Guiana appeared in late 1877/1878 at Agricola and Mahaica. Prior to this, village post offices used coded obliterators, while named postmarks were limited to Demerara, Berbice, and Georgetown, with a Wakenaam strike introduced also in late 1877. (These postmarks are a Townsend & Howe Type 1 & 1a / Panda Type E1)

Today we had the privilege of visiting Jos-El Educational Institute Secondary School, and what a special time it was. The energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm from the students made the experience unforgettable. It’s always inspiring to see young minds engage, ask questions, and discover something new.

We spent two wonderful days at Jos-El Educational Institute in Queenstown (https://joselacademy.org/), where we made many new friends and inspired many young stamp collectors. We are grateful for the warm welcome and encouraged by the interest and excitement we saw in the students.

Here’s a thank you we received from one of the students at the end— it meant a lot to us.
