Dear Kapamilya,
This Mother’s Day, I find myself reflecting on a kind of strength we don’t always name, the quiet, steady kind. The kind that shows up in the face of uncertainty, that holds families together, and that continues to give, even when there is little left to give.
2025 has been marked by relentless natural disasters across the Philippines—typhoons, earthquakes, and volcanic activity that have deeply affected communities. Yet in every place we’ve reached, we’ve witnessed resilience, compassion, and the enduring spirit of bayanihan.
Through Sagip Kapamilya, the Foundation has delivered essential aid—including food packs, hygiene kits, hot meals, and housing repair materials—to remote and hard-hit areas. Following Typhoon Tino, 2,490 individuals received hot meals across Cebu, and just days later, relief was extended to over 1,000 families in Aurora Province after Typhoon Uwan.
Our work continues in vulnerable regions, supporting earthquake-affected communities in Davao Oriental and Cebu, typhoon-impacted areas in Quezon and Catanduanes, and families displaced by the Mayon eruption in Albay.
And still, even in the midst of crisis, we continue to build for the future.
Through Programa Genio, we invest in long-term solutions through education. At the Ishmael Orillas Farm School, 386 students now have access to farm equipment that helps nourish their families while supporting their education.
At the heart of these stories are mothers, women who rebuild, provide, and uplift entire communities. This Mother’s Day, we honor not only the women who raise families, but those who nurture communities, protect ecosystems, and shape a more hopeful future.
Thank you for standing with us. Your support allows us to respond in times of crisis and help Filipino families not just recover - but thrive.
Happy Mother's Day from all of us at the AFI,
Lisa Cabahug,
Managing Director
