Burleson Opportunity Fund Our mission is to provide opportunity to BISD graduates the chance to attain post-secondary education.

Our Goal: To provide every high school graduate from Burleson the opportunity to attain post-secondary education. Our Mission:
To change the expectations of students, teachers, and parents to include the idea that all high school graduated from Burleson will have the opportunity to attain higher education and cultivate the economic development benefits of expanding the attainment of post-secondar

y degrees and career certifications. Purpose:
To encourage graduating high school seniors to further their education in Burleson, thereby:
- Helping to create a better trained, educated, and prepared local work force;
- Enhancing the local economy by supporting a thriving center for higher education;
-Capitalizing on the link between higher education and economic development; and
- Helping to ease the transition from secondary to higher education for Burleson families

More About the Fund:
The Burleson Opportunity Fund is a scholarship program open to all high school graduates who live or attend school in the Burleson Independent School District. The ultimate goal of the Burleson Opportunity Fund is to provide every high school graduate in the BISD the opportunity to attain post-secondary education. The students of the Burleson Opportunity Fund are guaranteed up to one year (100% tuition and fees) scholarship to attend Hill College at Burleson, and can qualify for a second year scholarship as well. Currently, more than 2,080 Burleson Opportunity Fund scholarships have been awarded to-date and BOF students have successfully completed over 32,000 college credit hours.

Big news for Burleson families planning for college: Texas State University just expanded its Bobcat Promise program. 🎓

Starting with the Fall 2027 freshman class, it now covers full tuition and mandatory fees for first-time freshmen who:
✅ Graduate in the top 25% of their high school class
✅ Have a family adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less

And families earning $50,000 or less qualify regardless of class rank.

That means more local students could head to college with tuition fully covered. But here is what the headlines don't always mention: "free tuition" doesn't mean free college. Housing, meals, books, and other costs can still add up.

That is exactly where the Burleson Opportunity Fund steps in. We help bridge the remaining gap so that when a door opens for a Burleson student, they can actually walk through it.

💡 One practical tip for families: if your student is aiming for a program like this, filing the FAFSA early matters. Eligibility for Bobcat Promise requires a completed FAFSA by March 15 before enrollment.

The 2027–28 FAFSA opens October 1, 2026. Burleson families can get a head start now:

✅ Create or update your FSA ID
✅ Gather tax and financial documents
✅ Make a list of the schools your student is considering

Filing early can help families make the most of available grants, work-study opportunities, and scholarships. Every step toward completing the FAFSA helps open more doors to a student’s post-secondary path.
