Burleson Opportunity Fund Our mission is to provide opportunity to BISD graduates the chance to attain post-secondary education.

Our Goal: To provide every high school graduate from Burleson the opportunity to attain post-secondary education. Our Mission:
To change the expectations of students, teachers, and parents to include the idea that all high school graduated from Burleson will have the opportunity to attain higher education and cultivate the economic development benefits of expanding the attainment of post-secondar

y degrees and career certifications. Purpose:
To encourage graduating high school seniors to further their education in Burleson, thereby:
- Helping to create a better trained, educated, and prepared local work force;
- Enhancing the local economy by supporting a thriving center for higher education;
-Capitalizing on the link between higher education and economic development; and
- Helping to ease the transition from secondary to higher education for Burleson families

More About the Fund:
The Burleson Opportunity Fund is a scholarship program open to all high school graduates who live or attend school in the Burleson Independent School District. The ultimate goal of the Burleson Opportunity Fund is to provide every high school graduate in the BISD the opportunity to attain post-secondary education. The students of the Burleson Opportunity Fund are guaranteed up to one year (100% tuition and fees) scholarship to attend Hill College at Burleson, and can qualify for a second year scholarship as well. Currently, more than 2,080 Burleson Opportunity Fund scholarships have been awarded to-date and BOF students have successfully completed over 32,000 college credit hours.

Many students don’t skip college because they lack ability. They skip it because of cost. Today, the average annual cost of college in the United States can exceed $20,000–$30,000 per year depending on the school. For many families, that number simply isn’t realistic. As a result, capable and motivated students sometimes delay—or abandon—their plans for higher education.

Burleson Opportunity Fund exists to help change that locally.
By providing scholarships to students from our own community, we help make the next step after high school more attainable for those willing to work for it.

Opportunity should not depend solely on financial circumstance.

We’re grateful to live in a community that believes in its students.

Burleson has always been a place where people show up for one another — at games, at events, in local businesses, and in moments that matter. That same spirit is what makes Burleson Opportunity Fund possible.

This scholarship fund exists because our community believes motivated students deserve a real chance to continue their education — whether that’s college, trade school, or another post-secondary path.

As graduation season approaches, many Burleson students are making decisions that will shape the next chapter of their lives. Some are charting paths that look different than they imagined a year ago. All of them are weighing one major factor: cost.

Burleson Opportunity Fund exists to make that decision a little less overwhelming. We believe motivated students in our community should have a real opportunity to take their next step—without financial barriers closing doors before they even begin.

This week, we want to pause and talk about why Burleson Opportunity Fund exists.

Every year, motivated students in our community face a simple but heavy question: Can I afford to take the next step? Not whether they’re capable. Not whether they’re willing to work. Just whether the financial gap is too wide. BOF exists to narrow that gap.

When local students are able to continue their education, the impact doesn’t stop with them. It strengthens families, builds skills that stay local, and invests directly in Burleson’s future.
