Thank you to the AFSP Western New York Chapter for the incredible work you do to raise awareness, provide resources, support families, and bring hope to our community. We are grateful to have been part of the Out of the Darkness Walk and to stand alongside so many people committed to making a difference.

The walk was a powerful reminder of the importance of showing up for one another, moving forward together, and ensuring that no one ever feels alone in what they are facing.

At Mind Over Foundation, we believe movement is medicine and together, we can create meaningful change, one step at a time

This year we added something new to Mind Over Miles.
We created a set of awards: not for fastest times or most laps but for the moments and people that actually make this event what it is.
The people who showed up carrying something heavy. The ones who refused to quit. The ones who lifted everyone around them. The ones who reminded us why we built this in the first place.
These five people stood out to us. They inspired us. And we wanted to make sure they knew that.
Here are the 2026 Mind Over Miles Award recipients. 🩵

Patrick Wolford — For Those We Carry (In Memory)
Every step he took at Mind Over Miles carried someone with him. Patrick ran in honor of his late brother Eric, and that kind of love doesn’t need words. It shows up in every lap. 🤍

Andrew Bailey — For Not Walking Away
There’s a moment in every hard thing where leaving makes sense. Andrew hit that moment and chose to stay. That’s what Mind Over Miles is built on. 💪

Mattew Riley — For Showing Up When It Wasn’t Easy
He was there from the jump and never stopped showing up, even when it got hard, even when it got heavy. That kind of consistency doesn’t go unnoticed. That’s what this award is all about. 🙌

Sabrina Phinitpapha — For What This Is Really About
Some people remind you why you’re there just by being there. Sabrina was that person at this year’s event. Her presence made it mean more. 💙

Fernanda Ormeno — For Lifting Others
Tired herself, still giving. Fern spent the whole event making sure the people around her kept going. That energy is everything. 🫶 (also did 33 miles herself😎)

Tomorrow is the day.

Mind Over Foundation is bringing the community together for Mind Over Miles 24 hours dedicated to movement, mental health, and showing up for one another.

Come out for the 10:30 AM pre-race ceremony before we start at 11 AM.

Show up for all 24 hours. Show up for one lap. Show up for you. Show up for others. Every step makes a difference.

Every step is a reminder that no one walks alone.

24 hours. 11 AM to 11 AM. Here we go.

At Mind Over Foundation, we believe conversations around mental health need to continue becoming more open, proactive, and connected to the support systems, people, and organizations working every day to help others.

Recently, our team had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Dori Marshall and Dr. Chelsea McCabe from Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo for an extended conversation focused around the psychiatric and behavioral health center, the continued expansion of services throughout WNY, and the impact this new space will have for children and families across the region.

For over an hour, we discussed the realities of anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, behavioral struggles, levels of outpatient and inpatient support, intensive programs, and the importance of creating environments where children and families feel supported, connected, and understood.

A major part of the conversation also centered around the role fitness, sports, friendship, movement, and routine can play alongside professional care and support. That connection is a large reason why Mind Over Foundation exists and why events like Mind Over Miles matter so much to us.

We wanted to share this conversation because we genuinely believe in the work Golisano is doing and want to continue supporting organizations and leaders creating meaningful impact within Western New York.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing more clips and videos from the conversation.

Mind Over Miles begins May 9th at 11:00 AM in Delaware Park and runs through May 10th at 11:00 AM. Our Kids Lap begins at 12:00 PM on Saturday.

Whether someone comes for one lap, one hour, or the full 24 hours, the goal remains the same: bring people together, encourage movement and conversation, and remind others they are not alone.

Five Days

For the past few years, this has grown into something real. Not just a run. A group of people showing up for themselves and for each other, year after year.

Everything you need to know is here. How to show up. How to prepare. What to expect.

You don’t need to do 24 hours to be a part of this. Just show up. That’s it.

We’re already seeing record numbers this year. That means something.

If you have any questions, reach out.

Five days.
Show up for you.

Bryan Somerville. Favorite Quote - “Ride together. Die together. Bad boys for life.” - Will Smith

11 days out from Mind Over Miles 2026.

As we get closer, we’ve been asking people from last year to share what the experience actually meant to them. Not the highlight. Not the number. The real part.

Here’s Bryan’s.

“I can honestly say Mind Over Miles was one of the more profound physical experiences of my life. I have put my body through some grueling tests, physically and mentally, thousands of miles and countless hours of no sleep. Whether it has been in the Army or of my own free will, pushing my body to the limits is one of my favorite things to do. Mind Over was one of the most grueling yet rewarding of these experiences that I’ve had so far.”

“My goal was 80 miles but I ended up getting to 61. Wasn’t what we wanted but now I have something to work for next year.”

“I won’t be able to make the event this year but I can guarantee I’ll be doing something on my own sometime this summer. And I’ll be there next year with my growing family. With a baby girl on the way, it makes me realize I need to push even harder and work even more for my family and the next generation in general.”

“I’ll leave you with some quotes that get me through the day-to-day. I’ve got plenty more where these came from…
- Never Out Of The Fight - Lt. Michael Murphy (I have this one tattooed on my ribs)
- No matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it - Emperor, Mulan
- Sometimes, you have to let suffering be your teacher
- Ride together. Die together. Bad boys for life - Will Smith (I say this to my friends, it’s earned, not given)”

We’re sharing this because this is what lasts.
Not the mileage. Not the time.
The perspective. The standard. The reason behind the effort.
