Treedirection Disc Golf Open 2026 Recap
This past Saturday, we held the fifth annual Treedirection Disc Golf Open at Emery Park, an event that has become synonymous with high level disc golf in Buffalo. Despite the fact that it always seems to be raining during this event, both local and traveling players have shown up, consistently selling out the tournament and bringing their A-game to one of the most challenging courses in the area.
Unfortunately, this year, we had to make the tough decision to cancel the second round due to poor conditions on the course. It was not an easy decision, but given reports of injuries and coming in from players and my own experience with course conditions in round one, I believe it was the right call. I want to express my sincere gratitude for everyone who helped out throughout the event, especially our BNDG crew who helped me to navigate one of the most difficult situations I have faced as a TD, and to the players for your patience and understanding as we worked through our options.
Despite the cancellation, we did play enough disc golf to qualify for a PDGA sanctioned tournament, and we were able to crown champions in each division. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate those individuals who put up some extremely impressive scores in the rain, wind and cold.
MA3 - Josh Walker +5 (75, White Tees)
MA2 - Chris Higgins E (70, White Tees)
FA1 - Allison Rickard +13 (85, White Tees)
MA1 - Maxwell Zielonka +7 (80, Gold Tees)
MP40 - Monty Ader +8 (81, Gold Tees)
MPO - Zach Sisson -2 (71, Gold Tees)
Even with the weather forcing an early end to the weekend, the spirit of the Treedirection Disc Golf Open was on full display. Year after year, this event continues to bring together an incredible community of players, volunteers, and supporters who are willing to battle through tough conditions for the love of the game.
Thank you again to everyone who competed, helped behind the scenes, and supported the event in any way. Your dedication is what makes this tournament special and keeps it growing every season. See you at the next one!
