Since 1975 the Cheektowaga Police Club has held a fundraiser called the "200 Club". The 200 club is named that because there are only 200 tickets for the event. It is a formal dinner at Salvatore's with cash prizes and a raffle. For the first time in a long time there are a few extra tickets available for this years event. The event is March 28th and the cost is $250 per couple. If you would like to come for dinner, drinks and prizes in support of the PBA - please message us !!!!!

Today, we honor Constable John Bauer, who made the ultimate sacrifice 98 years ago while serving his community. He was tragically forced off the road while attempting to apprehend suspects believed to have killed a Lackawanna Police Officer. We keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers as we remember his enduring legacy.

That’s it…only 71 eligible police candidates from the most recent Onondaga County Civil Service Patrol Officer Exam list. That means SPD, OCSO, and other agencies in CNY will all be competing for 71 candidates. In years past, hundreds upon hundreds of candidates would be available for selection.

As in any police candidate list, many won’t make it through the background process, and some won’t be able to make it through the Academy. Respectable recruitment efforts have been made, but the cavalry isn’t coming.

Every effort needs to be made to retain retirement eligible members… that needs to be the priority. State sponsored DROP programs and longevity incentives must be considered, as SPD is losing members faster to retirement compared to what they can hire.

Syracuse. Needs. Police.

Great to see my friends and former coworkers from the Cheektowaga Police Department Honor Guard presenting the colors at today’s Bills game. An incredible honor and a special moment—possibly one of the final games at Highmark, Ralph Wilson, Rich Stadium. 💙🏈
