Imagine if you will, the smell of the campfire burning and the marshmallows being roasted, the sounds of laughter and joy, the splashing of water and the twang of the bow and arrow. These are all sounds that are familiar to many who grew up in Scouting or who have children in Scouting now. For some Scouts these are sounds they may never hear. Our goal is to give every Scout the chance to experience summer camp.
In the Great Falls Council, we have a campership fund that we use to help families in need. Each year we get more requests than we have money to fund. While we do what we can, we can do more, with your help. I would like to invite you to come out to enjoy a day of conservation activities for the whole family. We will have groups such as Tanglewood Nature Center, the DEC, and Cornell Cooperative Extension, fishing groups and more. Cub Scouts will have the opportunity to work on advancements, and all Scouts will have a chance to do some conservation projects. We will top this day of with an amazing Pork BBQ lunch.
The event is Saturday June 13th from 10 AM until 2 PM. Lunches will start to be served around noon. The cost is $15 for a presale ticket and $20 at the door. The location is at Chemung Counties own Wetlands Brewery in, Van Etten NY. We will have auction items available as well that we will pull numbers from near the end of the event. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate towards the campership fund, options can be found on the website as well as with one of the QR codes on the flyer.
This event is not exclusive to Scouting families. Bring your friends and share this message with all that you can from the area.
Please come out and join us for this great event and help more youth experience the sounds and smells of summer camp.
