rerun RERUN is a costumed, climate-conscious team event debuting Buffalo – Earth Day 2026. WHY RERUN? We clean up. We dress up. We show up for the Earth. It’s necessary.

Teams of 3 push decorated recycling bins along sidewalks, collect trash, spark conversations, and recharge at five “Power Stations” — bars themed around renewable energy. Core Philosophy, Purpose & Participation
RERUN is an awe-inspiring day of wonder, movement, and mutual care—where creativity and community unite to repair, restore, and regenerate. It’s a costumed spectacle so delightfully outlan

dish it makes people stop, rub their eyes, and shout:
“What in the world is that?!”
That spark of curiosity is the perfect opening. It’s when we get to share what it’s all about:
“This is RERUN—an annual costumed recycling bin race with a mission. You can too.”
We aim to offer simple ways for spectators and passersby to take action—from volunteering, to planting a tree, to taking a small regenerative step forward. And anyone curious will have easy ways to connect with a Council Member to learn more. Core Philosophy
RERUN is more than a day of fun. It’s a shift in worldview. It asks us to remember that we are not separate from nature—we are nature. We are one part of a living, breathing ecosystem, and our choices ripple across soil, air, water, creatures, and communities alike. Each year, RERUN becomes a space where Buffalo shows up—for one another and for the environment in which we all live. But more than that, it’s a chance to lift up all living things: trees, fungi, pollinators, waterways, and the unseen forces that sustain us. Through collective creativity, movement, and stewardship, we celebrate with gratitude this miraculous, interconnected web of life. We embody care not just as a value, but as a practice—and not only toward people, but toward the more-than-human world. This mindset shift isn’t optional. RERUN invites participants to express themselves freely and fiercely, but also to carry forward the values of inclusivity, humility, and ecological responsibility. Competition doesn’t preclude care. In fact, the best teams are the ones that uplift each other—and the world around them. Anything that undermines this harmony—disrespect, exploitation, discrimination, or environmental harm—has no place at RERUN. Our Core Beliefs
We are not above the ecosystem—we are part of it. The time to act isn’t someday. It’s every day—the movement runs year-round. Racing on Earth Day is a vital disruption—a public call-to-action that invites others to rerun the system. Participation is not a sideshow—it is the show. A Different Kind of Economy
RERUN operates under the principle of decommodification. We value what money can’t buy: time, creativity, effort, care. Whenever possible, we encourage:
Bartering
Skill-sharing
Giving freely
We believe that what’s offered in earnest will return in kind. Let’s: Reduce consumption. Recycle energy. Reuse wisdom. The Heart of RERUN
Every role matters. Whether you're racing in costume, hosting a Power Station, guiding as a bike marshal, or simply cheering on a team—your presence helps shape this experience. We’re not waiting for change to happen—
we’re running toward it, costumes flapping, bins rattling, spirits high. Let’s reimagine. Let’s regenerate. Let’s RERUN.

Anybody out there ever designed their own font? If you have or even if you haven't and happen to be a graphic designer, let's talk.

UPDATE/ALERT!!

We are now just 24 hours away from the very first RERUN Herd Council meeting — and the momentum is real.
🗓️ Thursday, July 31st
🕠 5:30 PM EDT

Press is picking it up. Environmental groups have started spreading the word. And an inspiring crew of individuals are aligning behind this movement. This is the beginning of something big — and you’re part of it.

What’s on the agenda?
We’ll ground ourselves with a land acknowledgment, then walk through the vision, values, and origin story of RERUN — including inspiration from CHIditarod and a preview of the six “spirit animal” organizing roles (check out the infographic!). These roles aren’t fixed — you’re welcome to step into something familiar or try on something new.
We’ll also dive into open discussion about where you see yourself in this work, then close with next steps — and maybe a dash of weird, because it’s us.
Whether you're joining in person or virtually, please arrive by 5:30 PM EDT. This is more than a meeting — it’s the start of a regenerative, creative, and community-rooted project with climate justice at its core.

Let’s rerun the system — together.

First RERUN Coreganizers Meeting Set for Thursday, July 31 at Band of Bards

A new Earth Day tradition is taking shape in Buffalo—and it begins with the people ready to build it from the ground up. On Thursday, July 31 from 5:30–7:00 PM, the very first RERUN Coreganizers Meeting will be held at Band of Bards (255 Great Arrow Ave., Suite 205), welcoming creatives, climate advocates, and community builders to help co-create the inaugural RERUN event launching Earth Day 2026.

RERUN is a costumed, recycling-bin race through Buffalo’s neighborhoods—where teams push decorated 64-gallon bins to “Power Stations”: local businesses committed to sustainability and climate justice. The event blends playful performance, real environmental action, and civic engagement to spark curiosity and change.

This first meeting is for those ready to step in as Coreganizers—the co-creators who will shape the structure, spirit, and systems of the event. From logistics and media to design and outreach, there are roles for every kind of skill set, whether you're looking to lead with what you know or try something new.

What to Expect on July 31:

A relaxed, energizing introduction to the RERUN vision

Overview of the key roles and how you can plug in

A chance to ask questions, meet fellow collaborators, and get involved

Band of Bards, the host venue, is an independent Buffalo-based publisher specializing in creator-owned comics, graphic novels, and prose. Deeply committed to diversity, inclusion, and representation, Band of Bards is part of The Buffalo Creative Workshop, a co‑op studio powered by Vivere Studios. Operating on a pay-what-you-can model, the workshop offers affordable, inclusive creative space and tiered memberships that help keep Buffalo’s creative community thriving.

Let’s reimagine what Earth Day can look like.
Let’s regenerate.
Let’s RERUN.

I'm not on here everyday, and I hope you have balance in your life too. It brings me a glimmer of hope to see some friends getting interested in where this RERUN goes.
Do me a favor. If you plan to make the upcoming first meeting, please let me know. I have made arrangement for attending virtually so everyone can get a chance to play along as my mom always posted as her email signature, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain."
Please answer the reply and celebrate yourself into this new group of inspired weirdos. 🤓
