Today we celebrate the life, legacy, and birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King taught us that “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
In the spirit of service, unity, and love, we invite our community to turn his words into action. One powerful way to serve is by giving the gift of life through blood donation—especially for those living with Sickle Cell Disease who depend on lifesaving blood transfusions.

🩸 Join us for our MLK Day Blood Drive
📅 Monday, January 19 10am
📍 Delavan & Grider Community Center
Your donation can help save lives and strengthen our community. Let’s honor Dr. King not just with words, but with action.
Donate blood. Serve humanity. Keep the dream alive. ❤️✊🏽

January marks a month-long nationwide campaign dedicated to honoring the power of communal support and generosity. This observance emphasizes that one blood donation can save up to three lives and helps meet the millions of units of blood required each year for patients in need.
The campaign also raises awareness about the critical need for blood donations during the winter season—a time when supplies often decline due to holidays, travel, and flu-related absences. National Blood Donor Month was first recognized at the federal level in the late 1960s to early 1970s through a U.S. presidential proclamation.
As we celebrate the new year, we extend our deepest gratitude to donors past and present for their lifesaving contributions. We encourage both new and returning donors to schedule an appointment today to ensure a stable blood supply for emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatments, and chronic illnesses such as Sickle Cell Disease — just to name a few.
