TONIGHT: Celebrate the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band's 25th anniversary at Stevenson High School! 🎼

This performance will feature favorite pieces performed by the band over the years such as "Night on Bare Mountain" by Mussorgsky, selections from Fiddler on the Roof and The Producers, Rimsky-Korsakoff’s "Capriccio Espagnol", Samuel Barber’s "Adagio for Strings", and PDQ Bach’s "Music for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion."

One final bow for Maestro Howard Green 🎼👏

As we put the final touches on our 25th anniversary performance on Saturday, we want to give a final thank you to the man whose vision created the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band, Founding Conductor and Music Director Howard Green. Saturday's concert will mark the Symphonic Band's final performance under his direction as he prepares to enter retirement.

"It was always my goal to serve our Community, make great music, and it is so very satisfying to have been able to do both for so many years," Green said.

"In a way, as the founding Music Director, this group has been one of my children and part of my extended family. Looking forward, after seeing this child grow and mature, it is time to “retire” and pass the baton to a successor."

He will continue to be a part of the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band as Director Emeritus and as a member of the Band's clarinet section.

Thank you Howard for 25 years of incredible leadership and musical memories. Bravo!!!

That’s because the band’s 25th anniversary concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at Stevenson High School's Performing Arts Center in Lincolnshire will be the last performance with its only musical director, Howard Green, at the helm.
