Dear friends,
It is with great sadness we share the following announcement from the Licking County Library. Despite our best efforts, plans to close our beloved library will proceed. As we get more details we will share them.
We want to share some exciting news that came from this evening's Board of Trustees meeting of the Licking County Library.
With this post, we announce a new branch, to be named Lakewood, that will be located in the Arrowhead Shopping Center storefront in Hebron. This prime location, in close proximity to Kroger, supports increased visibility, higher traffic rates and convenient access. The 4,200-square-foot space will provide an expanded floorplan more suitable to the Library’s changing services and growing collections, as well as a community room to support increased programming. This location also positions the branch geographically in the center of the Lakewood Local School District and allows for future growth and sustainability as the area continues to experience rapid development.
The Lakewood branch will merge the current Hebron and Buckeye Lake locations. The Licking County Library Board of Trustees arrived at this decision after thorough review of various factors, including usage statistics, county demographics and operational needs, as well as conducting various meetings with county and community members.
“We are excited to expand services to the residents of Buckeye Lake and Hebron as well as Franklin, Licking, Union and Bowling Green Townships in a centralized location.” says Julia Walden, Executive Director of Licking County Library. “In addition to the new Lakewood branch, we will continue to provide mobile services, enhance our connectivity with local schools, and partner with local and county agencies. We are confident Licking County Library will continue to deliver impactful experiences and meaningful services to a broader audience of residents.”
The anticipated opening of LCL’s Lakewood location is late 2024 with expanded hours, including evenings and Saturdays, providing patrons flexibility and increased opportunity to use the Library. This announcement comes at a pivotal moment of growth for Licking County, its residents, businesses and organizations.
