Gooooooooooood Morning Friendos!

Went up to the BTLT Farmer's Market on Saturday and did some course recon! Walked the whole course, sans dog, to finalize the start/finish area and to determine how many signs I'll need on course.

Things I learned:
1. I cannot walk, write, and eat a pretzel from Hootenanny Bread. The notes were a mess for a bit lol
2. I'm going to need quite a few signs!
3. Leggings were a bad choice - it got warm and I got toasty but at least I was covered for tick prevention 😅

Race day is fast approaching and the deadline to get a tank top in your preferred size is approaching even faster! Tank top deadline is 6/1, online registration ends 6/17, and race day is 6/21!

We are limited to 50 runners - if life got lifey and you can no longer join us, please reach out so we can give your spot to another runner!

If there are spots available after 6/17, we will host race day registration (cash/check preferred - service is very spotty for card/venmo) and we'll let everyone know after 6/17!

Happy Monday everyone! We know we've been quiet - just working behind the scenes!

We are exactly 48 days from race day 😱

Over the weekend, the pupperoni and I went up to Brunswick and scouted most of the course. Making notes for signs, flags, parking, and the mid-course water stop.

And oh boy does the course look great! There's only one section that gets muddy (picture 3) and runners will need to run that section twice.

We've got 32 spots left for registration and we hope you'll be part of the 50 participants! Especially if you're participating in Maine Track Club's Grand Prix series as we are part of that as well (virtual event hasn't been set up yet)

Gooooooooooood Afternoon everyone!

Been silent for a bit - whoops 😣😅

But we're back with good news! With just 95 days to go until race day, we've opened up both runner AND volunteer signups!

Race day is Sunday 21 Jun with gun time (aka me shouting) at 830am!
Registration is capped to 50 participants due to parking concerns so sign up quick!

All runners registered by Monday 1 Jun, will receive a tech TANK TOP because it's a first day of summer kind of race. Color is TBD but leaning orange so you can be seen safely in the woods.

FYI!

Due to weather forecasts for astronomical high tides, extreme wind, potential for flooding on the course, and dangerous wind chill, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the race until Sunday, March 1.

All 2026 registrants will be automatically moved to the new date, no actions needed on your part. Any runners who have chosen to defer to the 2027 race or switched to the virtual, may re-enter the 2026 in-person race on the new date of March 1. Please, email [email protected] if you’ve deferred and want to run the March 1, 2026 event. We will be processing these over the next week.

If you’re unable to run on the March 1st date, we have updated our deferral policy and are allowing deferments to the February 7, 2027 race. Purchased shirts can not be transferred to 2027, and must be collected up at Packet Pickup (Feb 28), or at Marathon Sports from March 8-April 1. More details in an email that is deploying to all registered runners this afternoon.

Packet pickup will now be February 28 at Finish Strong PT. Race date is 9:45 am on Sunday, March 1, on the full 10 mile race course.

Volunteers - If you are able to transfer to Feb 28/ March 1st, same position/ same time slot please email [email protected] to confirm or cancel.

Registration for the March 1 race will be open until we reach our cap or February 28 at 1:00 pm.

PLEASE DO NOT RUN THE MID WINTER COURSE ON SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1.

Thursday 1/29 Race Update - we are monitoring the weather with local public safety, and all systems go, BUT need more traffic volunteers to fulfill our permit requirements. We're spreading the call far and wide for 30- 40 more volunteers for 1-2 hour shifts on Sunday. Please note, the timing on the website says 9:15-12:30 but the outside time is rolling depending on where you are on the course.

It's going to be cold and windy. It's going to be cool and inspiring. It's being done to keep people safe and healthy, and with the goal to continue a heartwarming community event. We know it's a lot to ask, and need everyone's help to keep runners safe.

We didn't want to leave you hanging for too long on what the course would be so here is it!

For some reason, strava has decided we don't get map backgrounds anymore 🤷‍♀️
We'll post a marked up map of BTLT's Crystal Spring property soon so this makes more sense.

We'll start at the Farmer's Market, head out on to Pleasant Hill Road and up Woodside before bombing down Quarry Trail which turns into East Trail. Follow East Trail all the way to Blueberry Loop and run thru the blueberry barrens then we'll hop the fence (not really, there is a path to go around), cross Pleasant Hill Rd to Field Trail where we'll dip back into the woods on Main Loop trail, all the way around back to Field Trail where we cross again and head up East Trail again. But this time, we loop onto Ravine Trail then back to East Trail all the way back to the market!

News from our sister race Cape Elizabeth Mid-Winter 10 Mile Classic

Dear 2026 Runners: The Mid Winter Classic - a Maine Track Club race - is offering race deferment to registrants who do not feel safe participating in our Feb 1 event due to current federal policing activity. More details will be available in the runners guide (going out Wednesday morning) to all registered runners. If you opt to defer to 2027, we ask that you let us know via the details in the runners guide and we'll find a safe way to get you the shirt if you ordered one. (photo of the 2022 race start)

Happy Monday friends!

We're excited to share the newest Maine Track Club race - the Field & Forest 5 miler!

Mark your calendars for Sunday 21 Jun to join us in Brunswick, ME at Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust Crystal Spring property for a 5-mi trail race covering their full property!!

Ok, well it's 95% trail - there is a section of pavement at the start to help spread runners out before getting on the trail and you'll also cross Pleasant Hill Road twice down by the blueberry field gate.

Part of the course will look familiar when it's revealed later this week. This race was born out of the Farm to Farm Ultra when that course changed to remove the loooong stretch of road.

We're excited to bring a new race to the lineup!

Registration isn't open just yet but when it is, it *IS* limited to 50 runners due to parking constraints and the health of the trail. But all runners will get a gender-specific tech TANK TOP because why not celebrate the summer solstice this way?!
