THIS. This is our why. ❤️🐾

From a mama trying to keep her baby safe in a ditch, to watching them both grow, thrive, and finally get their happily ever afters. 🥹

These are the moments that make it all worth it. Knowing they will never have to fight to survive again and will get to live the beautiful lives they’ve always deserved.

This is rescue. This is our why. ❤️

A shelter is no place for puppies. 💔 But sadly, that’s the reality for so many dogs in the Rio Grande Valley.

Meet Astrid & Lugnut. 🐾

Today, these two lucky pups got their FREEDOM RIDE — all because a foster said YES. ❤️

Texas shelters are overflowing. Euthanasia rates are high. Stray dogs are everywhere. And because we are constantly trying to help dogs living on the streets, Sanctuary Park Rescue very rarely has the foster space available to pull dogs from our local shelters.
But today, we did.

And Astrid & Lugnut are safe because someone opened their home. 🏡
This is why we need fosters.

If you’re in Brownsville, Texas or Leonardtown/Southern Maryland, we need you. Even fostering for a few weeks can give us the space to say YES to the next dog who needs us.

We provide the supplies. You provide the safe place to land. Together, we save a life. 🐶❤️

Welcome to SPR, Astrid & Lugnut.

Safe Now. Loved Forever. 💚

🐾 HOW is Chip still waiting?! 🐾

Chip has become one of our long-term residents, and we genuinely cannot understand why this sweet boy hasn’t been scooped up yet. 😭

Chip is a gorgeous Lab/Pittie mix with pretty much everything you could ask for. He’s smart, friendly, affectionate, and absolutely wonderful with people. He’s currently being fostered with two large dogs and a toddler and does FABULOUSLY with all of them. ❤️

🐶 Great with dogs
👧 Fabulous with kids
🧠 Smart and eager to learn
💋 Professional kiss giver
🥰 Total sweetheart

And can we talk about his FUR?! This boy’s coat feels like actual SILK. He is ridiculously soft and gives the absolute best snuggles.

Chip has watched other dogs come and go while he continues to wait for someone to choose him. We KNOW his family is out there. We just need to help them find him.

Please SHARE, COMMENT, and LIKE this post to help us get Chip in front of as many people as possible. Even if you can’t adopt, one share could be the reason his forever family finally sees him.

🏡 Chip is ready for his forever home.
🚌 Transport available to the East Coast, Pacific Northwest, and Midwest!

We found her under a building, surrounded by other stray dogs. And then we noticed her belly. She was a mama.

We came back that night with food and followed her, hoping she would lead us to her babies. She did. ❤️

Her babies are safe now. But this story doesn’t have a happy ending. Not yet.

Because when we drove away, so many dogs were still there. Still under that building. Still sleeping in parking lots. Still searching for food and water. Still surviving 100+ degree South Texas heat.

This is the reality here. There are stray dogs everywhere, and as much as we desperately want to save every single one, we cannot do it without foster homes.

And without spay and neuter, this cycle never ends. One mama becomes a litter. Those puppies grow up and have litters of their own. Before we know it, there’s another entire colony of dogs struggling to survive.

We have to do better. We have to be better.

Spay and neuter your pets.
Foster if you can.
Adopt. Donate. Share.

We saved this mama and her babies.

Now we can’t stop thinking about the ones we had to leave behind. 💔

The shyest puppy in the litter found the shyest little girl in the family. And somehow, it feels like they were meant to find each other. 🥹❤️

Bean was found as a stray in South Texas with her siblings. From the beginning, she was the one who hung back. The one who needed a little more time, a little more reassurance, and a little extra love before she felt safe.

Her new bestie 👯‍♀️ is the oldest of four siblings and incredibly shy, too. She’s been dreaming about having a puppy of her own for a long time.

And now, these two get to grow up together. 🥹

Two shy girls who get to build confidence together. Find their courage together. Learn to trust together. And hopefully become each other’s very best friend along the way.

This is why we do what we do. ♥️

Through the sleepless nights, endless messages, vet bills, transports, and hard days, moments like this make every single bit of it worth it.

Happy forever, Beanie. You found your girl. ❤️🐾
