March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month! 💙
Make sure to schedule your colonoscopy, screening starts at age 45!!!!
Andrea was only 43 years old when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in 2015, and she had no family history of colon cancer. The Doctor said she’d probably had polyps for approximately 10 years before she noticed symptoms, which were then misdiagnosed for some time.
Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself if you’re having symptoms, or ask for a second opinion. When Andrea was having symptoms, they were attributed to something else, and she was told by her Doctor that she was too young for cancer.
Throughout Andrea’s Cancer Journey, we have met many young people diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer, people in their teens up to their 70’s.
Please always take symptoms seriously. Colon Cancer is very treatable when caught early, so don’t delay care if you have any symptoms that are causing concern.
