The club has selected Ms. Nadia Gaydos of Rockbridge Baths as the recipient of our 2025 scholarship award. Nadia will attend Christopher Newport University this fall majoring in kinesiology. Nadia has earned a solid reputation as a leader for her accomplishments in academics, sports, and community work during her high school years. We have no doubts that she will continue to succeed throughout the coming years and are honored to give some support towards her goals.

Our Fourth Annual Corn Hole Tournament was a lot of fun. Twenty-one teams competed at the wonderful Whistle Hollow Farm facility in Fairfield and there were about one hundred family and friends there to cheer their favorite teams on. Our sincere thanks to everyone for all of their support and our congratulations to the First Pace team, "Big Cat Little Cat", Second Place Team "The Sod Fathers", and Third Place Team "Dollar Bill" and Fourth Place Team "Baby Bird Baggers". A complete list of competing teams is attached.

Here are some pictures from the club's December 6 Rockbridge Christmas Basket Program deliveries to the Raphine, Fairfield, and Brownsburg areas.

The club delivered 54 boxes and 21 toy bags to 27 families. Special thanks to David Whipple for transporting the boxes for us. We had at least 11 members and others involved.

Merry Christmas everyone!

On October 23, Brownsburg Ruritans passed out dictionaries to 46 3rd grade students at Fairfield Elementary in Mrs. Barbee, Mrs. Beristain & Mrs. Johnson's classes. This is an annual tradition practiced by several Ruritan clubs in our area. The kids get to keep the dictionaries for their personal use. The four Brownsburg Ruritan members in the background of the picture, (l to r) Fred Weeks, Jay Lewis, Bryan Tolley, and Bruce Patterson, handled the logistics.

There was a good turn out on October 10-13 of 16 people from Bethesda Presbyterian Church and the Brownsburg Ruritan Club for the annual firewood cutting to help others stay warm this winter. Special thanks to: Brandan Huffman for organizing and hauling wood to the sites; Susie Mohler and Mark McKessick for the food; the church youth group for the cookies; and to Barry Chewing, Jon and Jerry McDonald, Kenny Mohler and Brandon for providing splitters & delivering wood to homes. Others include Larry Weeks, Fred Weeks, Benny & Michael Plogger, Richard Bsuilk, Mike Vest, Jamie Thompson, Chasen Wade, Tabby Mohler, Jennifer Camden, plus several others whose names we failed to record. The pictures capture the scope of some hard work and the gang simply having some fun during a long effort.

The Brownsburg Ruritans are pleased to announce the award of the club's 2025 scholarships to Ms. Addisyn Clark of Raphine and Mr. Aiden Rogers of Lexington.

Addisyn will be attending Mountain Gateway Community College this fall and will major in dental hygiene. Addisyn has been active during high school in varsity sideline and competitive cheerleading and has served as team captain. Outside of school, Addisyn has participated in Relay for Life, church events, Alzheimer’s support fund raising events, and has worked as a summer lifeguard.

Aiden is the son of BreAnne and Scott Rogers. He will be studying business administration at James Madison University. Aiden has been active in the National Honor Society, Outing Club, Young Life, and Project Connections. He is known as a dependable and hardworking volunteer in the support of organizations that serve the community.

The Brownsburg Ruritans are honored to make a small contribution towards the future success of these two individuals. We award scholarships each year to graduating Rockbridge County High School seniors who are furthering either their academic or vocational education. The number of scholarship awards and amount of each award varies from year to year depends on the number of applicants and funds available.
