THE COMING INTIFADA is a film about a Palestinian American activist, Amin Husain - raised in Al-Bireh, West Bank, active in the First Intifada and a key Occupy Wall Street organizer - brings friends from Occupy to Palestine to ask what a shared horizon of liberation could look like and how our movements can better struggle against oppression. Their journey brings viewers into conversations with or
dinary people and families, farmers and workers, activists and organizers, poets and intellectuals. Together they draw connections and learn how to resist and build. In the midst of the post “Arab Spring” power vacuum and in the context of recent ruptures all over the world, the activists explore how our movements face similar challenges and opportunities on the path to justice and freedom. When the situation on the ground dramatically escalates, the meaning of the encounters become clearer, and we are left asking better questions about how we struggle. THE COMING INTIFADA goes beyond mainstream media narratives of violence and nonviolence. It is an opening for how oppression can breed courage, resistance, radical imagination and love.
