BALAA is excited to launch another incredible year of FREE after-school programming beginning Monday, September 14, 2026!

Students will experience:
🎺 HBCU-style marching band
📚 Academic support & homework help
🌟 Mentorship & leadership development
🚌 FREE transportation for all selected Uncommon Schools NYC students!

BALAA has officially launched a fundraising campaign to help us buy a bus. With the support of The Andrews Organization, we are working to raise $150,000 to purchase a 20-40 passenger mini bus. You already know, we keep these kids outside. This will help with afterschool transportation, HBCU band day visits, and transportation to/from performances. Make a donation and share!

Today we celebrate 7 years of purpose, impact, and legacy.

Seven years ago, BALAA was founded with a vision: to provide young people with access to high-quality arts education, leadership development, mentorship, and opportunities that inspire them to dream bigger.

What began as an idea has grown into a movement. Through our after-school programs, marching arts initiatives, HBCU experiences, scholarship opportunities, and community partnerships, we have impacted hundreds of young people and families across New York City and beyond.

As we celebrate BALAA Founders Day, we honor every student, parent, staff member, volunteer, donor, partner, and supporter who has helped make this journey possible. Your belief in our mission has transformed lives and opened doors for future generations.

The first seven years were about building the foundation. The next seven years will be about expanding our impact.
