Students at Brock Elementary are learning to love research and library navigation this year!
📚From Mrs. Bouldin, Brock Elementary Librarian:
If you give an eagle an iPad, he’ll want to search for a book.
When he searches for a book, he’ll learn to use the library catalog.
When he uses the catalog, he’ll want to find the book on the shelf.
When he finds the book on the shelf, he’ll be excited to read it.
When he starts reading, he’ll want to explore even more stories.
And chances are… if you give an eagle an iPad, he’ll discover that the library is full of endless adventures.
With the support of this grant, 2nd Grade students participated in a Library SHELFie Scavenger Hunt, bringing digital and print literacy together in an engaging, hands-on experience. Working in teams, students used iPads to search the online catalog for specific titles. After identifying the call numbers and locations, they navigated the shelves to find the books in person. Once located, each team celebrated their success by taking a “SHELFie” with their book.
Thanks to the generous support of the Brock Education Foundation, all K–2 students are developing essential library navigation and research skills this year!
