Today one of our retired NMFD members Ed Jerde will be laid to rest. We want to sincerely thank Ed and his family for his service and continued support of NMFD. Rest easy brother. 🙏

Britton, SD Edward Ed M. Jerde passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton, at the age of 71. His services and a full obituary is pending. Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Maggie Hensley PO Box 287 Britton, SD 57430.

..RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 9 PM CDT
TUESDAY FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR NORTHEAST SOUTH
DAKOTA AND WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA...

* AFFECTED AREA...In Minnesota, Traverse and Big Stone. In South
Dakota, Marshall and Roberts.

* WINDS...Northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 25 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become
difficult to control or suppress.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
