In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, please mark your calendar and plan to participate in Bristol’s 9th Annual community celebration. This year’s theme is “Mission Possible: Building Community, Uniting a Nation, the Nonviolent Way.”

A group of community volunteers have planned the celebration, which will begin at Noon on Monday, Jan. 19, with a children’s program at the YWCA Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, 106 State Street. This event will include interactive activities, lunch and books for the first 100 children. Please contact Laura Bobo at (423) 968-9444 or [email protected] for more information.

The entire community is then encouraged to gather at the YW at 1:15 p.m. for a march to the historic Bristol sign for a group photo. A program will follow at First Baptist Church at 2 p.m.
Please refer to the flyer below for additional details about these and other MLK Jr. Day activities presented by APEC-Appalachian Peace Education Center in Abingdon, the King Institute for Faith and Culture, Lee Street Baptist Church, and the Birthplace of Country Music Museum.
