Come play for us! MECCA Accompanist/Collaborative Pianist

The Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy (MECCA) is seeking a highly-qualified pianist(s) to accompany the Highlands Youth Ensemble. For over 30 years, MECCA has sought to enrich the lives of youth in the Tri-Cities region through a program of vocal music education and through the study and performance of the world’s great choral literature.

Job Description
Preparing accompaniments for all pieces
Playing for rehearsals
Assisting the Director with sectionals as needed
Playing for concerts and special events (such as Biltmore Estate performances, etc)

Rehearsals
Monday 7:15-9:15 at First Presbyterian Church, Bristol, TN

The MECCA calendar runs from mid-August to mid-May, with major concerts in December and May every year, and the HYE “cabaret” in February.

Qualifications
Excellent pianistic skills, especially in accompanying
Ability to create and maintain rapport with youth
Ability to adapt to changing situations
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music or Music Education is welcome, but not required
Knowledge of/experience with Kodály Method and Curwen hand signs preferred

CONGRATULATIONS to ADAM MABRY for being chosen for the VMEA Senior Honor Choir! We are so proud of Adam and all of his accomplishments! He will travel to Norfolk in November to participate in the VMEA Senior Honor Choir. Way to go, Adam! 🎶
