In 2013, the doctor’s diagnosed Christine with Ocular Melanoma and a prognosis of 1-2 years. Of course, that wasn’t good enough for her and there she made the decision she would do anything and everything to get through this. Through her day to day life, the average person had no idea that she was facing such an uphill battle. She lost complete vision in one eye and had a tumor affecting her trige
minal nerve requiring daily and hourly meds, yet she loved her life and lived her life to the fullest as an incredible friend, sister, mother, wife, nurse, karaoke singer, dancer, you name it! Ocular melanoma is a type of cancer that typically falls under the radar. Yes there are treatments to help decrease the size of the tumors, but the microscopic cancer villains can and in most cases escape into the blood streams, affecting most patients in the liver. Through our regular interactions with other ocular melanoma patients and families via Facebook sites and community portals, there is always a new addition to the group and unfortunately a member that we are saying goodbye to. Our goal is to help find a cure so no one has to say goodbye anymore! Our goals are to help families overcome obstacles to receive the best possible care and increase their chance at life. We are so thankful for the team at Jefferson hospital that took the best care of Christine and gave her 9 extra years of life that we didn’t think she would get. Dr. Sato is the world renown leader in Ocular Melanoma Research and we thank him for offering Christine opportunities to fight as she did and defy all the odds. Both the medical team at Jefferson and Wills Eye Institute were amazing and we hope to allow those in need to get the care we loved and received. We know that if you knew Christine, you knew her fight! Her spirit was strong and she was a true inspiration to all of us! It is our hope that you support this cause and help cancer patients and families wherever their need is. Together we support that No One Fights Alone to Keep Spirits Strong! Xoxo - The Fox Frauenheim Family & Friends & the CFF Foundation Board
The Christine Fox-Frauenheim Memorial Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization founded by Christine's husband and a dedicated founding board of compassionate individuals who love Christine. Our foundation aims to honor Christine's memory by raising funds to support families and individuals facing financial difficulties related to their illness or those seeking an education in healthcare. Funds will also support research and other uveal/ocular melanoma cancer related funding needs. Christine's journey battling cancer and remaining hopeful inspired us to create a foundation that offers assistance to those in need, providing a helping hand during their most challenging times. Our primary objective is to organize fundraisers and other community-driven events, in memory of Christine, to generate the necessary funds to support our cause and those we will help. By rallying the support of our local community and beyond, we aspire to provide support to individuals and families who require assistance due to unforeseen circumstances, medical challenges, or other hardships.
