Feeding ducks and geese may seem like a harmless way to interact with wildlife, but it can impact water quality. When birds gather in large numbers, their waste adds nutrients and bacteria to the water. Uneaten food can also decay and contribute excess nutrients, which can lead to algae growth and lower oxygen levels that affect aquatic life.
The best way to help our local waterways is to enjoy wildlife from a distance and let ducks and geese find their natural food sources!
