Raag-Rang - Spreading The Colors Of Music Our mission is to nurture and sustain an interest in the vast and diverse field of Indian music.

With this objective in mind, we conduct regular concerts featuring some of the renowned artists in the field of Indian music. We also conduct lecture-demonstration events which provide you with an opportunity to experience and enhance your knowledge about a specific area of Indian classical vocal or instrumental music. We are particularly keen to promote an interest in Indian music among the younger generation. Therefore, we start every concert with the performance by a young, student artist. These artists can be practicing any art form such as Hindustani or Carnatic vocal/instrumental, a classical dance form such as Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, etc. We also conduct a concert once a year, named Kal-Ke-Kalakar (artist of the future), which is meant exclusively to showcase the talents of the younger generation. The director of Raag-Rang is the noted Hindustani vocalist, Mitali Banerjee-Bhawmik. Her extensive experience in the field of music enables Raag-Rang to be able to showcase some of the best talents in the field of Indian classical music.

hpande, followed by an amazing harmonium solo by Dr. Kedar Naphade, with excellent tabla accompaniment by Shri Dibyarka Chatterjee. Kedar Naphade’s student Tanish was following his Guru.
Dr. Deshpande’s students and Kedar ji’s students showcases how younger generations are getting involved in Hindustani music in this part of the world.

Raag-Rang was honored to felicitate Dr. Deshpande with the Pandit V. G. Jog Award in recognition of his contribution to Hindustani classical music.

The evening concluded with a superb sitar performance by Pandit Partha Bose, accompanied by none other than Pandit Samar Saha on tabla—truly a memorable finale!

A heartfelt thanks to Deepak Dhobal for helping with the sound and to Naimish Thakkar for being an outstanding emcee. We were delighted to have around 130 people attend, which is wonderful encouragement for Hindustani classical music. Yesterday’s concert was adorned by so many musicians means so much to the organization.

Many thanks as well to all our volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the concert a success. Thanks to our community music lovers who are continuously supporting Raag-Rang for years.

Sharing a few memorable moments from the evening with you all.

Another Successful Raag-Rang Spring Concert – May 30
The Raag-Rang Spring Concert on May 30 was a wonderful success. Drawing an audience of 55–60 music lovers for a classical music concert on a Saturday afternoon is a significant achievement in New Jersey, especially when several other cultural events were taking place at the same time. Raag-Rang sincerely thanks the community for its continued support and enthusiasm for Indian classical music.
The concert opened with a soulful vocal recital by Indrani Chakrabarty, who presented Raag Madhuvanti in Jhap Taal, followed by a Drut Teentaal composition. She concluded her performance with a beautiful Khamaj thumri, leaving the audience deeply moved.
Abhishek Lahiri followed with an outstanding performance, beginning with Raag Puriya Kalyan and concluding with a delightful dhun in Misra Pilu. He was ably accompanied by Subrata Bhattacharyya. Their performance was warmly appreciated by the audience.
Raag-Rang extends heartfelt thanks to its dedicated volunteers—Khemraj and Arayna Singh, Sanchita Roy, Amitabha Pal, Shankhadip Chakrabarty, Aratrika Dey for being the Emcees, Shobha Singh, and many others—whose efforts helped make the event a success.
Special thanks also go to Mrinalini Ayachit of Vibrnz for ticketing and flyer, and to Sunil Nair and Anuradha Krishnan for their excellent assistance with sound.
We are sharing a few photos and a short video clip from Abhishek Lahiri's performance. The full concert video will be shared soon.
Thank you all for making this concert such a memorable afternoon of music. See less
