In the beginning....
Our story isn’t that special or exciting, but it is ours.. Rescue came to us by chance through a stray in our neighborhood . It took a year, a litter of pups and many attempts to catch her. We saw how people treated her during that year. She was threatened, kicked, attempted to be shot, drugged, run over on purpose and we knew there had to be a better way. Some of us belonged to another rescue, as board members and fosters , that was very dedicated to saving animals on a large scale. The fit wasn’t the right fit for what we had in mind. We felt maybe a rescue could form that was tailored to the relationship between people and dogs. Our philosophy would be to get a group of people together who were a little crazy, loved dogs but also loved people and make the community a part of this rescue..Give ownership from us to them..Many rescues were consulted for advice and we were amazed how many were there to offer support. Paws Crossed was born two years later...It has become something bigger than we could have imagined. It is no longer a small group rescue, but a community rescue. A community that works together in many different ways to give dogs a second chance. The support has been overwhelming. The love amazing. The kindness and compassion leaves us emotional at times. The most important thing that has come about is seeing rescues working together for the greater good. A team approach that supports and encourages each other in our strengths and weaknesses all because we all have the same mission and same goals to make a difference in an animal’s life.
