It’s Juneteenth — the day we commemorate the abolition of slavery in the United States. Also known as Emancipation Day and Freedom Day, it celebrates freedom for all and honors the perseverance of African Americans, as well as the ongoing journey toward racial equality.

As a faith-based organization, we recall the words of Paul, “For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)

May we embrace those words and remain ever true to the call for freedom and justice.

We’re rolling out the red carpet for the EverTrue Ageless Gala on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac. This year’s theme is “Lights. Camera. Access.”

This event is more than a night out; it’s a chance to come together and make a meaningful difference in lives of people like Robbie, who receives free wellness screenings regularly at her EverTrue Affordable Housing residence thanks to caring supporters and partners.

Together, with generous sponsors like Arlington Financial and Daugherty Enterprises, we are ensuring security, upholding dignity and providing hope to the older adults we serve.

Ready to be part of the story? Learn more and reserve your tickets or a table here: https://EverTrueAgelessGala.org

Thank you for being part of a community that shows up, gives back, and helps bring “Lights. Camera. Access.” to life!

Congratulations to Katie McCue, a social worker with EverTrue Hospice (part of EverTrue Anywhere Care), on being one of WTWH Media Healthcare’s 2026 Future Leaders in the Hospice & Palliative Care category.

This national recognition honors emerging professionals who are shaping the future of healthcare through innovation, compassion and leadership.

Katie’s professional path uniquely equips her to shape the future of hospice care through an interdisciplinary approach. Among her multiple degrees and licensure as social worker, Katie is also a board-certified music therapist, which allows her to connect with patients in powerful ways. Integrating these approaches allows her to better support patients and families during life’s most personal and meaningful moments.

Katie regularly puts empathy to action with her patient advocacy and in her dedication to honoring every patient’s story. One example of her compassionate leadership involved coordinating a special gathering for a Coast Guard veteran receiving hospice care. Working alongside her care team and a local American Legion, Katie helped arrange for more than 20 active Coast Guard service members and veterans to share a meal with the patient and his family — creating a meaningful experience he described with pride.

Thank you, Katie, for representing the next generation of compassionate and innovative leaders transforming hospice and end-of-life care.

In Missouri, 11.2% of adults over 65 are diagnosed with Alzheimer's. In Pennsylvania, the prevalence is 11.5%, while 12% of adults over 65 in the state of Illinois are diagnosed with the disease.

During the month of June, EverTrue commits to raising awareness about Alzheimer’s, as well as other neurodegenerative diseases, and to promote brain health to reduce the risk of dementia in honor of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month.

Our experts regularly share with our residents the dementia risk factors they can control, including hypertension, obesity, diabetes, smoking, physical inactivity and poor sleep. Across America, 34.2% of all adults have two or more risk factors (not including sleep). Do you have any of these that you can speak to your doctor about?

EverTrue is dedicated to healthy aging. This Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, we hope you’ll take part in free, virtual wellness sessions to help you “take charge of your brain health” brought to you by our partners at the Alzheimer's Association.

Happy Senior Health and Fitness Day! Did you know it is recommended that older adults (with physician approval) engage in 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity plus muscle-strengthening activities at least twice a week?

This doesn’t mean you need to do vigorous aerobics classes or lift heavy weights at the gym. Brisk walking, hiking and swimming are all excellent examples of aerobic activities, while exercises like chair squats or using resistance bands can make a significant difference in helping maintain strength and physical function.

EverTrue wants to keep our residents and clients physically active in the way that works best for them! Find out why staying physically active has so many health benefits for older adults: https://ow.ly/F0il50YUFO2
