Born in Bremen, Georgia, in 1931, Harold went on to build a career that took him from local radio to some of country music's biggest recording studios.

A career in music is shaped by more than what happens in the studio. It’s also shaped by the people who offer guidance, share what they’ve learned and believe in someone’s potential.

On National Mentoring Day, we’re celebrating the importance of passing experience from one generation to the next. Throughout his career, Harold Shedd built relationships with artists at different stages of their careers, offering the insight and encouragement that comes from decades in the music industry.

It’s a tradition of learning and sharing that we hope continues for generations to come.

By the time Glen Campbell recorded “A Lady Like You,” he had already spent decades building one of country music’s most recognizable careers.

Harold Shedd stepped behind the board for Campbell’s Letter to Home album, bringing his production style to another legendary voice in country music. “A Lady Like You” became one of the album’s standouts, reaching No. 4 on the country chart.

It’s one more chapter in Harold’s career that shows just how many different voices and eras of country music his work touched.

Produced by Harold Shedd, the song became one of Alabama’s early No. 1 country singles and helped establish the band during a period that would change the trajectory of country music.
