--Backstory--
CSDS offers swing dances and swing dance classes where you can experience the joy of swing dancing while meeting and getting to know people like you who are healthy, active and friendly. If you would like to get satisfaction from learning something new and creative that keeps your interest and requires your attention, we've got it for you. How many places can you go to meet and get t
o know people in a relaxed and fun environment where you share an activity you enjoy together? Not many but we offer exactly that. People of all ages, male and female, mix, spend time together and get to know each other in a healthy way that you won't find elsewhere. We've helped the swing dance community grow throughout CT and introduced many people to a new social life for themselves through the people they've met. Many people have developed a social network and made many long term friends they never would have otherwise. Some are now even married. We aren't making any promises but the fact is, sometimes meeting just one person can change your life forever. If you are a friendly, healthy person who could enjoy some physical activity and appreciate the energy and excitement of doing something that engages your attention and keeps your interest for hours on end, come meet us. --What about the music?--
Dancing requires music that inspires you. You don't have to be familiar with the music we play to start but its worth the effort to get familiar with it as you go because its the music that makes you want to swing out, to move and groove. We play some of the best swing music to be heard anywhere, the type of music that makes people want to dance and get creative. At its best, its got energy and nuance and how did they ever come up with such awesome sounds? There's a lot of it and its worth listening to, just fantastic music that makes one happy to be alive to hear such incredible sounds.
--How do you find us?--
CSDS is a virtual organization, running lean and efficiently with volunteer labor provided by people passionate enough to donate their time to make all what we do possible just for the love of doing it and to make CT a better place for all of us. We rent space as needed for our dances and classes from halls who are friendly towards dance and arts organizations. Right now, we hold our dances at Dance in Rhythm, 19 S. Main St., Branford, CT in a perfect space for dance parties with a great sound system, comfortable, well maintained wood dance floor, warm mood lighting, and plenty of safe area parking. We hold our dance classes at MECA, 28 Washington Ave., North Haven, CT in a downstairs studio with a bamboo floor, just perfect for us.
