TIP TUESDAY: Call if you can, text if you can’t. 📱🚨

Meade County, did you know you can text 911 in an emergency when calling isn’t safe or possible?

This can help if you’re hiding, unable to speak, deaf, hard of hearing, speech impaired, or in a situation where a phone call just won’t work.

If you text 911, include your exact location and what is happening.

Calling is still the fastest option when you can — but it’s good to know texting is there when you can’t.

🚜 Farming season is in full swing around Meade County!

That means you’re going to see more tractors, combines, and farm equipment on our roadways. Please slow down, be patient, and give them plenty of room.

Parents — this is also a great time to talk to your new drivers about how to safely share the road with farm equipment. Tractors move slower, make wider turns, and may be traveling from one farm to another just a short distance down the road.

A few reminders:

✅ Slow down early when you see farm equipment ahead
✅ Don’t tailgate
✅ Only pass in a legal passing zone
✅ Make sure you have plenty of clear roadway before going around
✅ Never assume the tractor driver sees you or knows you’re passing
✅ Watch for wide turns into fields, driveways, or side roads

And remember — that might be someone’s farm kid driving that tractor from one farm to another. They’re out working, helping their family, and doing their part to keep local farms running.

A few extra seconds of patience can prevent a tragedy.

Let’s all do our part to keep our farmers, families, and drivers safe this season.

🚑🚁 This is what teamwork in emergency services looks like.

From Meade County EMS on the ground to Air Methods Elizabethtown in the air, responses like this take coordination, trust, and a shared commitment to helping people when they need it most.

We’re thankful for Meade County EMS, all of our local first responders, Meade County 911, and Air Methods Elizabethtown for the work they do for our community — rain or shine, day or night.

No one answers these calls alone, and Meade County is better because of the partnerships that make emergency response possible. 👏

From the ground crews to the skies above, every response is built on coordination, trust, and a shared mission to serve our communities. Scenes like this are a reminder that no one does this job alone.

Thankful for the partnerships with our local EMS agencies and the dedication shown every single day — rain or shine, day or night.

🚨 TIP TUESDAY: Move Over. Slow Down. Save Lives. 🚨

This week’s tip is a serious one.

These photos show two different fire engines in Kentucky that were struck on the highway within the last week while parked in a protective position at crash scenes.

When firefighters park an engine to block a lane, it’s not to frustrate drivers. It’s to create a shield between moving traffic and the firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, tow operators, and crash victims working just feet away.

Tip Tuesday reminder: when you see emergency lights on the roadside:

✅ Move over if it’s safe
✅ Slow down if you can’t move over
✅ Put the phone down
✅ Watch for responders walking near traffic
✅ Be patient while crews clear the scene safely

A blocked lane may cost you a few extra minutes. Not moving over could cost someone their life.

Please do your part. Move over. Slow down. Let them go home. ❤️🚒

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, Meade County joins the rest of our nation in pausing to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend, cookouts, lake days, or the unofficial start of summer. It is a day set aside to honor those who never made it home — the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and service members who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Here in Meade County, we are blessed with a community that understands the meaning of service, sacrifice, and patriotism. Many families among us have served, are serving, or have carried the weight of losing someone who did.

As we spend time with family and friends today, let’s take a moment to remember why this day matters.

May we never forget the fallen.
May we always honor their sacrifice.
And may God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸
