📢 COMMUNITY TOWN HALL — FLOCK CAMERAS

The Meade County Sheriff's Office is inviting the public to a Community Town Hall to learn more about Flock camera technology and have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

The meeting will include a demonstration, community feedback, open discussion, and a question-and-answer session.

The meeting is open to the public, and community participation is encouraged.

💡 TIP TUESDAY: Labor Day Weekend Is Coming! 🇺🇸

The long weekend is almost here, and that means more people will be traveling, camping, boating, and enjoying the last stretch of summer around Meade County.

A few simple reminders before the weekend:

🚗 Buckle up — even for the short trip across town.
🍺 Plan a sober ride before the festivities start.
🏍️ Watch twice for motorcycles — especially on our rural roads.
🚜 Be patient on country roads with farm equipment and slower traffic.
🛶 Wear a life jacket when you’re on the water — don’t just have one somewhere in the boat.
🔥 Be smart with campfires and grills and make sure they’re completely out before leaving them.

And remember: Meade County Schools are closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day, so expect more kids and families to be out and about throughout the extended weekend.

Enjoy the weekend, Meade County — just make sure everyone makes it home safely. 🇺🇸

🚌 TIP TUESDAY: KENTUCKY’S SCHOOL BUS LAW HAS CHANGED! 🛑

With school buses back on Meade County roads, this is an important one to know.

Kentucky law now requires drivers to stop for a school bus in more situations than before.

When a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, traffic approaching from BOTH directions must stop — even on a roadway with four or more lanes.

⚠️ The big change: A painted center line, center turn lane, or paved divider does not mean opposing traffic can keep going.

The exception is when you are approaching from the opposite direction on a roadway with 4 or more lanes that is divided by an elevated barrier or an unpaved median.

So when you see those red lights and that stop arm come out, don’t guess — STOP.

A few seconds of patience is worth the safety of a child getting on or off the bus.
