⚡ POWER IN THE ROOM: Three Ways to Show Up Tues, 6/23 @ 9AM

Our community has power when we stand in solidarity. 💪

Following last week's raids in Bemidji, ICE presence has extended into the Brainerd area. We're gathering to encourage Crow Wing County Commissioners and Sheriff Klang to abolish the 287g agreements that deputize local law enforcement to do ICE’s bidding and turn the Brainerd jail into a deportation pipeline through the IGSA agreement.

When? Tue, June 23 @ 9:00 AM (arrive by 8:45)
Where? CWC Historic Courthouse - 3rd floor, 326 Laurel St, Brainerd

📍 THREE WAYS TO SUPPORT
1️⃣ SHOW UP IN SOLIDARITY: Attend the board meeting to observe, and bring a sign. Your presence matters—when we fill the room, our collective voice cannot be ignored.
2️⃣ SPEAK DURING OPEN FORUM: Use your voice during the public comment segment of the commissioner meeting. Speaker time is limited to 3 mins. Message us if you're interested—we'll support you with speaking notes if desired.
3️⃣ JOIN THE 287g WORK GROUP: This is ongoing work. We're building a dedicated group to continue mobilizing to overturn these agreements in Crow Wing County. Message us to join.

Our hearts are heavy today as Bemidji neighbors navigate the uncertainty and fear caused by recent ICE actions. We stand in solidarity with neighbors, families, and workers who are now facing the devastating impact of these detentions.

When one of us is targeted, we are all diminished. But in times of crisis, we also see the strength of our community—and we are strongest when we stand together.

🚨 This morning, the President posted on Truth Social:

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”

He set an 8 PM deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz. If they don’t, he says the U.S. attacks. Legal experts warn: hitting civilian infrastructure—bridges, power plants, water—could be a war crime.

When asked what “whole civilization” meant, the White House said: “refer to the TRUTH.”

Think about that: a president threatening to destroy 3,000 years of Persian civilization—home to 90 million people—on social media. Real lives are at stake: civilians, children in Iran, and people like Sgt. Nicole Amor, who have already died in ongoing conflicts.

If you are angry, you are not wrong.
If you are grieving, you are not alone.
