This summer, Second Lady Usha Vance is inviting students in grades K–8 to take on the Summer Reading Challenge! 🌞📖

From June 1 through Sept. 4, students who read 12 books will be eligible for prizes and a chance to visit Washington, DC. It’s an engaging way to keep young minds sharp, strengthen reading skills, and make the most of a summer filled with great books.

✅ To join the challenge:

2. Read 12 books by Sept. 4.
3. Submit your completed tracker online.

🏕️💚Girl Scout troop camping fosters independence, builds confidence, and gives girls memories that will last a lifetime 🤎
Our girls have spent the last couple of meetings preparing for our first troop overnight camping experience. We’ve discussed safety rules, packing gear, and next week we will learn how to build a fire 🔥 and tie some handy knots 🪢
Girls were asked to bring a sleeping bag to our last meeting so we could learn how to properly fold and store our sleeping gear, but of course, this just meant that the girls wanted to spend the entire meeting in their sleeping bags😂 Even though this wasn’t the purpose of bringing the bags, it was very sweet to see that, on their own volition, they decided to lay out together, laugh, chat, and giggle while they waited for the meeting to officially start
Honestly, our troop is always giving green flags ❇️

Maddie, Claire, Lillian, and honorable mention Arthur took part in the community clean up hosted by United Way of the Bradford Area . Together, they collected 2 bags of garbage, putting a special focus on one of the local downtown parks.

If you have a girl who is interested in Girl Scouts that will be in Kindergarten this year, you can sign her up to receive free Girl Scout supplies this summer. She will then be assigned to one of our local troops when the new season starts in the fall and will be able to participate in meetings 💚🤎

Girls have earned a free day at a Girl Scout camp with a ton of fun activities hosted by the girl scouts of Western Pennsylvania council. These girls are certainly in for one magnificent summer🏕️☀️🏖️
A big thank you to leaders Kris, Heather, Lenny, and Nikki for their guidance, mentorship, and teamwork to help us become a TNT 🙌😁

Girls are working on their ‘My Great Day’ badge that helps them develop habits to help their day run more smoothly ☀️ One thing we talked about was getting organized by setting your clothes out the night before. Leaders thought they would try to be sneaky 🦊 by making this chore fun to help parents just a little more. They had the girls make their own t-shirt folding board, but the girls saw right through them 🫥 One of them even said, “I’m not taking mine home! Then my mom will MAKE me fold laundry!!” 😂😂
There is no pulling wool over their eyes 😆

🌷Here in our Girl Scout troop, we like to keep it girl led. This means we allow and encourage them to make decisions for the troop💚
Our girls unanimously voted to have a spa day with some of their hard earned money 🪷
Levitate Float Spa really came through for these girls! They hosted us and planned amazing activities such as making and applying all natural face masks and getting manicures 💅
Girls got to experience the oxygen bar and massage chair too 💆‍♀️
Needless to say, the girls had a blast; some of them even informing us that Levitate Float Spa was their new home and they were never leaving 😂
They gave their experience a 1,000/10 and our leaders can’t thank them enough for giving Troop 54218 such a memorable experience.

🐰A few members of our troop enjoyed an Easter egg hunt hosted by GSWPA. During the hunt, they hiked to a small gorge where they immediately took off their shoes and socks and played in the creek. Many laughs ensued 💚
After finding their eggs, they returned to the lodge to enjoy painting, musical chairs, and freeze dance 🎶🎶
The girls had a ton of fun and are looking forward to a summer full of many more memories ☀️

Happy 114th birthday, Girl Scouts! Today marks the beginning of an incredible journey for girls around the world 🎉🎉 enjoy this recipe for the OG Girl Scout cookie, which girls would bake in their home and sell to raise funds, starting the tradition for everyone’s favorite time of year 🍪💚
