Montana Mountain Mamas

Montana Mountain Mamas Raising the volume of Western women’s voices to protect our outdoor quality of life, for our kids and our future.

Being surrounded by a landscape so inspiring, it’s no wonder Montana is chock-full of amazing women hiking, skiing, camping, climbing, boating and perhaps journeying through the bravest adventure of all, parenting. It’s our hope that this virtual “community” of gals who appreciate Montana’s Great Outdoors will share adventures big and small, as well as advice on how to keep our families, our communities and our selves healthy and happy.

This morning Senator Steve Daines voted with Sen Lee to nullify the Roadless Rule. This important legislation protects over 6 million acres of public lands in MT, while still allowing for active forest management, wildfire prevention and multiple uses. Any MT family that hikes, hunts, fishes, swims, throws rocks in lakes, camps or generally enjoys beautiful views feels the weight of this decision. We can do better than this, our children are watching.

Some of the local public lands we use the very most. So many of the local parks, playgrounds, fishing access sites (and bathrooms!) swimming pools in MT are there because of the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). For over 60 years, LWCF has been using revenue from offshore oil and gas leases (not your tax $$) to protect national parks, forests, and outdoor spaces MT families depend on.

And right now the Trump administration wants to gut it by 90%.

Here's what the poll says: 74% of Americans support investing in our public lands and national park infrastructure. This isn't a partisan issue. This is a mom issue. A family issue.

Join us in telling your lawmakers to fully fund the LWCF. Our kids are watching.

Yesterday, the US Senate voted to confirm Steve Pearce as the Director of the Bureau of Land Management. Pearce has repeatedly attacked protections on public lands and proposed sales of public lands. We think there is a better choice for our Montana families who value places to hike, camp, hunt and fish.
