As Indigenous Peoples Day approaches this month we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight artist and member of the Cherokee Nation, DG House, the local designer of our gorgeous Windhorse license plate.

DG is a contemporary Native American artist whose works can be seen in fine art museums across the United States including the Holter Museum of Art, the Missoula Museum of Art, and the Yellowstone Art Museum. DG has achieved accolades in and out of the studio. She is an associate member of the Women Artists of the West and American Women Artists and was named the first Honorary Ranger for Grand Teton National Park, WY.

Thank you DG House for your incredible contribution to Windhorse, we are so proud to have your art representing Windhorse on our license plate.

As we come closer to our Rescued Hearts screening, Windhorse would like to highlight our event sponsor Hertha Lund of Four Horses for Wholeness.

Through Equine Gestalt coaching, individual sessions, and retreats in Montana, Hertha partners with horses to help people explore emotional barriers, reconnect with themselves, and move toward greater wholeness.

We’re grateful for her support in bringing our community together to celebrate the powerful connection between horses and humans. You can meet her at the event and learn about her services directly from the source.

You’ve seen them in previous posts and maybe even met them at various events so we thought it was time to officially introduce the Windhorse Pony Ambassadors: Wonder Bread, and Miss Kiki! Owned and loved by our Communications and Development Coordinator Molly, Bread and Kiki have done a spectacular job brightening our booth and expanding outreach for Windhorse at our events.

Wonder Bread is a seven year old shetland/mini cross pinto whose personality is as big as his love for snacks and attention. Miss Kiki is a spotted grey miniature horse somewhere in her twenties. Kiki is more shy and prefers to warm up to people before introducing herself, making it extra special when she chooses to say hello.

Bread and Kiki were teachers and companions to a six year old cowgirl and then spent two years as therapy horses prior to their work with Windhorse. They have quite the resume! While this is likely Kiki’s last season before retirement, Bread has a long career of bringing smiles and joy to people ahead of him.
